PEOPLE, Page 83Warp Factor Nine Career
By MICHAEL QUINN
For WILLIAM SHATNER, the character of Captain James
Tiberius Kirk, macho master of the future-faring starship
Enterprise, has become far more than a movie and TV role: it's
an industry. The latest Kirkiana: Shatner's memoirs, sold for
a celestial $750,000. Publishing is one area where Shatner has
gone before: his Tekwar science-fiction books are set in a
non-Star Trek future but clearly trade on the actor's name.
Plans are in the works to turn Tekwar into a TV series. At least
a quarter of the episodes are to star and be directed by the
enterprising Shatner.
