  20. Have you ever used a BBS or CompuServe?  If so, you've probably
  21. encountered ZIP files.  Are you a Windows user?  If so, WinZip is
  22. THE way to handle these archived files.

  24. WinZip brings the convenience of Windows to the use of ZIP files
  25. without requiring PKZIP and PKUNZIP.  It features an intuitive
  26. point-and-click drag-and-drop interface for viewing, running,
  27. extracting, adding, deleting, and testing files in archives.  ARJ,
  28. LZH, and ARC files are supported via external programs.  WinZip
  29. interfaces to most virus scanners.

  53. WinZip is extremely easy to use!  To open an archive simply double
  54. click on an archive listed in the File Manager, drag and drop an
  55. archive onto WinZip, or use the standard Open dialog.  The main
  56. WinZip window features a list box with the names, sizes, and
  57. date/time stamps of all files in the open archive.  This list can
  58. be scrolled and sorted on any field.  A tool bar provides fast
  59. access to commonly used actions.  All options (including window
  60. size and position) can be saved and restored.  Extensive context
  61. sensitive help is always available.

  63. Double clicking on a file in the main window has the same effect
  64. as double clicking in the File Manager.  First the file is
  65. extracted from the archive.  If the file is executable, it is run.
  66. Otherwise, the file is opened by the appropriate application (for
  67. example, Windows Write for *.WRI files) based on standard Windows
  68. associations.

  70. The Windows 3.1 Drag and Drop Interface is fully supported.  You
  71. can drag and drop files from WinZip to other applications.  WinZip
  72. will extract the files before dropping them on the target
  73. application.  The target application will treat the files as if
  74. they had been dropped by the File Manager.  You can also drop
  75. archives on WinZip to open them, or drop files on WinZip to add
  76. them to the open archive.

  78. WinZip's unique CheckOut Facility makes it easy to quickly install
  79. files in archives.  Click on the CheckOut button to extract all
  80. files and create a Program Manager group for all files in the
  81. archive.  This group will contain one icon for each file.  Double
  82. click on an icon to view the corresponding file with the
  83. appropriate application.  WinZip will optionally delete the
  84. CheckOut files and Program Manager group.

  86. WinZip requires Windows 3.1 or Windows for Workgroups.  While no
  87. other programs are required for basic operations involving ZIP
  88. files, optional features require one or more external programs,
  89. including PKZIP and PKUNZIP product from PKWARE, Inc, LHA.EXE from
  90. Haruyasu Yoshizaki, or the Shareware ARJ product from Robert Jung.
  91. WinZip interfaces to several programs to access ARC files and
  92. optionally runs most virus scanning utilities.  See the online

  97. Agreement, to share copies of this program with friends,
