  228.  This option allows you to ADD files into
  229.  the compressed by displaying a list of
  230.  files in a window.  After the window is
  231.  displayed you tag the files to ADD by
  232.  pressing the space bar.  After all files

  234.  process the tagged files.

  237.  This option will allow you to add or
  238.  update the compressed file comments.

  241.  This option will delete all files that
  242.  are contained in the compressed file
  243.  from the current DISK:\DIRECTORY,or the
  244.  one specified via the ALT-P command.

  246. *alte  !!extract list!!
  247.  This option allow you to specify which
  248.  files to extract from the compressed
  249.  file. You may specify more the one
  250.  filespec when the prompt appears.  Wild
  251.  cards are allowed.
  252.  
  253. *altf    !!freshen-from-list!!
  254.  This option allows you to FRESHEN files
  255.  in the compressed by displaying a list
  256.  of files in a window.  After the window
  257.  is displayed you tag the files to
  258.  FRESHEN by pressing the space bar.
  259.  After all files have been tagged press
  260.  the ENTER key to process the tagged
  261.  files.
  262.  
  263. *altg   !!search for string!!
  264.  This option allows you to search all ,or
  265.  only tagged files, for a specific string of
  266.  characters using the program FGREP.COM
  267.  (Which must be in a directory in your PATH
  268.  statement). If no files are tagged then all
  269.  files will be searched.  After the search is
  270.  completed to results will be listed on the
  271.  screen.
  272.  
  273. *altm   !!move-from-list!!
  274.  This option allows you to MOVE files
  275.  into the compressed by displaying a list
  276.  of files in a window.  After the window
  277.  is displayed you tag the files to MOVE
  278.  by pressing the space bar.  After all
  279.  files have been tagged press the ENTER
  280.  key to process the tagged files.
  281.  
  282. *altn  !!extract newer!!
  283.  This option will extract ALL or TAGGED NEWER
  284.  files from the compressed file into the
  285.  current DISK:\DIRECTORY or the one specified
  286.  via the ALT-P command.
  287.  
  288. *altp  !!!get_extract_path!!!
  289.  This options allows you to specify a disk
  290.  and directory of where any extracted files
  291.  will be placed.  Specify the extract path as
  292.  follows:
  293.  DISK:\DIRECTORY
  294.  Pressing any key other than the ENTER key
  295.  will clear the extract path. To display a
  296.  directory window enter ONLY a DRIVE LETTER
  297.  FOLLOWED BY A COLON, then press the F9 key.
  298.  A single * may be entered to tell SHEZ to
  299.  use it's floating extract location
  300.  logic.
  301.  
  302. *altr !!rename highlighted!!
  303.  The ALT-R command allows you to rename the
  304.  currently hilighted file in the compressed
  305.  file. You will be prompted for a new name.
  306.  
  307. *alts   !!speed_srch!!
  308.  Speed search allows you to find a file
  309.  in the compressed file quickly.  After
  310.  the window pops up enter the first
  311.  character of the file you wish to find.
  312.  The display will be repositioned to the
  313.  first file in the list that starts with
  314.  that letter. (NOTE since files are
  315.  stored in random order sort the list
  316.  first)
  317.  
  318. *altt  !!toggle tagged display line!!
  319.  Pressing the ALT-T keys will toggle
  320.  the tagged file display line at the
  321.  bottom of the screen.
  322.  
  323. *altu    !!update-from-list!!
  324.  This option allows you to UPDATE files
  325.  in the compressed by displaying a list
  326.  of files in a window.  After the window
  327.  is displayed you tag the files to
  328.  UPDATE by pressing the space bar.
  329.  After all files have been tagged press
  330.  the ENTER key to process the tagged
  331.  files.
  332.  
  333. *altv  !!view archive comments!!
  334.  This option will display the master
  335.  comment record and the file comment
  336.  records for the selected compressed
  337.  file.

  339. *altx  !!extract all!!
  340.  This option will extract ALL files from
  341.  the compressed file into the current
  342.  DISK:\DIRECTORY or the one specified via
  343.  the ALT-P command.
  344.  
  345. *alty   !!run pgm on tagged!!
  346.  This option allows run a program against
  347.  all tagged file(s).  You will be prompted
  348.  to enter the program name to run, the
  349.  parameters to pass to the program, if you
  350.  want SHEZ to swap itself out of memory when
  351.  running the program, and if you want SHEZ
  352.  to pause after each execution of your
  353.  program.
  354.  
  355. *altz  !!virus check!!
  356.  This option will check files to see if they
  357.  have been infected with a virus.  You must
  358.  have the virus checking program from McAfee
  359.  Assoc. call SCAN.EXE version 39 or greater,
  360.  and have used the configuration program to
  361.  tell SHEZ where to find SCAN.EXE.

  363.  IF FILES ARE TAGGED SHEZ WILL ONLY CHECK
  364.  THE TAGGED FILES FOR INFECTION.

  366. *alt1  !!authenticity toggle!!
  367.  This option will toggle the authenticity
  368.  option when using PKZIP version 1.1 or
  369.  greater.  If the authenticity mode is
  370.  toggled on a ! will appear next to the
  371.  [FILE LIST] window header on the main
  372.  screen or next to the NAME field on the
  373.  compressed file contents screen.
  374.  
  375. *c  !!create-new!!
  376.  This will allow you to create a NEW
  377.  compressed file.  You will be prompted
  378.  to enter the
  379.  DISK:\DIRECTORY\FILENAME.EXT of the
  380.  compressed file to create, whether you
  381.  want to add or move files into the new
  382.  compressed file, and the DISK:\DIRECTORY
  383.  of the files to add and/or move to the
  384.  new compressed file.
  385.  YOU MUST SUPPLY A FILE EXTENSION FOR THE
  386.  FILE TO BE CREATED.  SHEZ CURRENTLY WILL
  387.  ALLOW YOU TO CREATE ZIP,ARC,ZOO,LZH and
  388.  PAK files!!!!!
  389.  
  390.  You will also be asked if you want to
  391.  TAG files to be added/moved or process
  392.  the entered file spec as is.
  393.  
  394.  If the compression program you choose
  395.  supports saving path information you will
  396.  also be asked if you want to save
  397.  directory information, and if you want to
  398.  recurse the directory tree.
  399.  
  400.  If you are converting from a ZIP to an ARJ
  401.  or a ARJ to a ZIP file you will also be
  402.  asked if you wish to preserve volume label
  403.  information that can be stored inside the
  404.  compressed file.  (THIS OPTION WILL ONLY
  405.  APPEAR WHEN CONVERTING THE CURRENTLY
  406.  HIGHLIGHTED FILE.  IT WILL NOT APPEAR IF
  407.  RUNNING UNDER OS/2.)
  408.  
  409.  
  410. *ctld  !!delete tagged!!
  411.  This option will delete all tagged files
  412.  from the compressed file.  You will be
  413.  asked to verify the delete before the
  414.  files are actually deleted from the
  415.  compressed file.
  416.  
  417. *ctle  !!extract tagged!!
  418.  This option will extract all tagged
  419.  files from the compressed file.
  420.  
  421. *ctlenter  !!alternate viewer!!
  422.  This option will activate the alternate
  423.  file viewer if one has been defined in
  424.  the SHEZ.EV external file.
  425.  PLEASE SEE  THE USER MANUAL FOR
  426.  INSTRUCTIONS ON SETTING UP AN
  427.  ALTERNATE VIEWER.
  428.  
  429. *ctlt  !!update compressed time and date!!
  430.  This option will set the compressed
  431.  file's time and date to the time and
  432.  date corresponding to the newest file in
  433.  the compressed file.
  434.  
  435. *ctlu  !!untag all!!
  436.  This option will untag all currently
  437.  tagged files.
  438.  
  439. *ctlsp  !!tag all files!!
  440.  This option will tag all files in the
  441.  currently displayed window.
  442.  
  443. *ctlv  !!convert sfx files!!
  444.  This option will convert a self
  445.  extracting file back to its native
  446.  compressed file format. The self
  447.  extracting file will remain untouched.
  448.  The normal compressed file will be
  449.  built on the same drive and directory
  450.  where self extracting file is found.
  451.  
  452. *ctly  !!copy members to another arc!!
  453.  This option allows you to copy all
  454.  tagged files from the current compressed
  455.  file into another compressed file.  The
  456.  target compressed file may be any
  457.  currently supported format.
  458.  
  459. *ctlx !!exit to extract dir!!
  460.  This option will exit SHEZ and will
  461.  drop you off into disk and directory
  462.  that is specified as the extract
  463.  location.
  464.  
  465. *d  !!delete one file!!
  466.  This option will delete the currently
  467.  highlighted file from the compressed
  468.  file. You will be asked to verify the
  469.  delete before the delete is actually
  470.  done.
  471.  
  472. *e  !!extract one file!!
  473.  This option will extract the currently
  474.  highlighted file onto the default disk
  475.  drive and directory, or the
  476.  DISK:\DIRECTORY that was specified via
  477.  the ALT-P command.
  478.  
  479. *f      !!freshen!!
  480.  Using this option you can specify the
  481.  file(s) you wish to FRESHEN in the
  482.  compressed file. You may enter multiple
  483.  filespecs in the entry window.  Wild
  484.  cards are allowed for filenames and file
  485.  extensions.
  486.  
  487. *f10  !!to-dos!!
  488.  This option will temporarily exit to
  489.  DOS. You may then execute any DOS
  490.  command.  To return to SHEZ
  491.  enter EXIT at the DOS prompt and press
  492.  the return key.
  493.  
  494. *af10  !!to-dos to extract_path!!
  495.  This option will temporarily exit to
  496.  DOS and will drop you into the extract
  497.  directory. You may then execute any DOS
  498.  command.  To return to SHEZ enter EXIT
  499.  at the DOS prompt and press the return key.
  500.  
  501. *f2    !!switch_arc!!!
  502.  This option prompts for a new DRIVE:\PATH to
  503.  change to.  You may also specify a filename
  504.  and file extension if you wish. Wild cards
  505.  in the name and extension are allowed. IF
  506.  YOU ENTER A FILENAME OF $ AND A FILE
  507.  EXTENSION OF $ SHEZ WILL DISPLAY ONLY THE
  508.  ARCHIVE FILES THAT ARE FOUND IN THE
  509.  SPECIFIED DIRECTORY.
  510.  I.E. C:\WORK\$.$
  511.  You can also pop-up a directory tree window
  512.  by press the F9 key. When the tree appears
  513.  you may press the letters C-Z to obtain a
  514.  directory tree of a different drive. You may
  515.  also enter a DRIVE LETTER FOLLOWED BY A
  516.  COLON, before pressing the the F9 key.
  517.  
  518. *f8  !!edit!!
  519.  This option will allow you to edit a
  520.  file in the compressed file.  This
  521.  option will only work if you specified
  522.  an editor to use when you configured
  523.  compressedPER.
  524.  
  525. *f9    !!!get_sort!!!
  526.  Using this option you can specify how
  527.  you want the compressed files sorted on
  528.  the screen. They can be sorted by Name,
  529.  Extension, Date, Size, or Unsorted.
  530.  
  531. *fact  !!!compression factor!!!
  532.  This option will allow you to set the
  533.  compression method used by the PKZIP or ARJ
  534.  programs.  When you set the compression
  535.  method, it will remain in effect until you
  536.  change it again.
  537.  
  538.  
  539. *g  !!password!!
  540.  This option allows you to specify the password
  541.  to be used by the compression program.  If the
  542.  compression program does not support passwords
  543.  an error window will appear informing you that
  544.  the option is not supported.
  545.  
  546. *i  !!show info!!
  547.  This option will show information about
  548.  the compressed file. I.E. Number of
  549.  files in file, total size of all files,
  550.  time and date of compressed file, etc.
  551.  
  552. *m     !!mode!!
  553.  Using this option you can specify the
  554.  file(s) you wish to MOVE into to the
  555.  compressed file. You may enter multiple
  556.  filespecs in the entry window.  Wild
  557.  cards are allowed for filenames and
  558.  extensions.
  559.  
  560. *o !!toggle overwrite!!
  561.  This option toggles overwrite mode. When
  562.  overwrite mode is active the letter "O"
  563.  will appear in the upper right corner of
  564.  the compressed display heading line.
  565.  When overwrite is active the uncompress
  566.  pgm will not ask you if you wish to
  567.  overwrite a pre-existing file when you
  568.  extract a file from the compressed file.
  569.  
  570. *p  !!path options!!
  571.  This option allows you to specify if you
  572.  want to save and/or use path information
  573.  when working with compressed files.
  574.  
  575. *q  !!immediate exit!!
  576.  This option will immediately exit
  577.  SHEZ.
  578.  
  579. *r  !!run a file!!
  580.  This option will extract and run the
  581.  highlighted EXE or COM file.  You will be
  582.  prompted to enter the optional command line
  583.  parameters that the program may need.  When
  584.  the program ends the extracted file will be
  585.  deleted.
  586.  
  587. *s  !!add/update file comments!!
  588.  This option allows you to add and or
  589.  update the comment records associated
  590.  with the currently highlighted file.
  591.  
  592. *sfts  !!add/update file comments!!
  593.  This option allows you to add and or
  594.  update the comment records assocaited
  595.  with each file in the compressed file.
  596.  
  597. *t  !!test compressed!!
  598.  This option will test the integrity of
  599.  the compressed file.
  600.  
  601. *u       !!update!!
  602.  Using this option you can specify the
  603.  file(s) you wish to UPDATE in the
  604.  compressed file. You may enter multiple
  605.  filespecs in the entry window.  Wild
  606.  cards are allowed for filenames and file
  607.  extensions.
  608.  
  609. *v  !!view!!
  610.  This option will allow you to view the
  611.  contents of a file in the compressed
  612.  file.  The LIST.COM program will be used
  613.  to view the file.
  614.  
  615. *z  !!mask!!
  616.  This option allows you to specify a file
  617.  mask to be used when displaying the
  618.  contents of a compressed file.  For
  619.  example if you specify a mask of *.C
  620.  only the files having an extension of C
  621.  will be displayed on the screen.
  622.  
  623. *maltd !!view 4dos!!
  624.  This option will display the 4DOS or
  625.  NDOS file descriptions that are
  626.  maintained by the DESCRIBE command.
  627.  SHEZ can only handle a description
  628.  file that is 30,000 bytes or less.
  629.  
  630. *maltu !!update/add 4dos!!
  631.  This option allows you to update/add
  632.  NDOS/4DOS file descriptions to the
  633.  highlighted file.
  634.  This option only functions if you
  635.  are running under NDOS/4DOS.
  636.  
  637. *mtab !!open second file window!!
  638.  When the DOS directory window is
  639.  displayed, pressing the TAB key will
  640.  open a secondary directory display
  641.  window.  You may view other directories
