$1E00$ display selections
Select Archives to pack the current directory, including
both files and subdirectories, to obtain more disk space or
to unpack from the archive of the current directory.
$1E00P pack away
Select Pack away files to compress the current directory,
including both the files and the subdirectories, and to
delete the originals. The archive is named with the same
name of the current directory.
$1E00U unpack
Select Unpack files to extract both the files and the
subdirectories from the archive to the current directory.
ARC overwrites files with the same name. The archive will
NOT be deleted.
$3000$ display selections
Select Backup to store files and subdirectories in
ARC quick compressed format onto multiple diskettes.
$3000P start backup
Select Partial backup to store the current directory onto
multiple diskettes. All the files and subdirectories of
the current directory will be backed up. The Diskette must
be formatted with DOS.
$3000I start backup
Select Incremental backup to store the modified files
within the current directory to since last backup. Mount a
new diskette each time. KEEP all backups including the
last Partial backup and all the incremental backup until
the next Partial backup is performed.
$3000F start backup
Select the Full backup to store the current disk onto
multiple diskettes. All the files and subdirectories of
the current disk will be backed up.
$3000R start restore
Select Restore from backup to extract the files and sub-
directories from the backup diskettes. The files and sub-
directories will be restored to their original path. ARC
overwrites files with the same name.
$3000D toggle diskette drive
Select Backup disk is <x> to change the backup diskette
drive.
$2E00$ display selections
Select Copy to transfer the current directory, including
files and subdirectories, to or from multiple diskettes in
ARC standard compressed format.
$2E00T start copy
Select Copy to floppy to store the current directory
including files and subdirectories, onto multiple diskettes
in ARC format. The archive is named with the same name of
the current directory.
$2E00F start copy
Select Copy from floppy to extract the archived files and
subdirectories from the diskettes to the current directory.
ARC overwrites files with the same name.
$2E00D toggle diskette drive
Select Copy disk is <x> to change the diskette drive.
$2100$ display selections
Select File to change archive, change disk/directory, or to
transfer files between archive and disk/directory.
$2100O display available archives
Select Open Archive to change the current archive to a
different archive.
$2100D specify new disk/directory
Select change Disk/Directory to change the current
disk/directory to a different one.
$2100A add
Select Add to archive to add all tagged files and/or
directories to the archive. This command can be accessed
directly with CTRL+A key from the work screen.
$2100U update
Select Update archive to update the archive of any tagged
files that has been changed or newly created since the last
update. This command can be accessed directly with CTRL+U
key from the work screen.
$2100F freshen
Select Freshen archive to update the archive of any tagged
files that has been changed since the last update. It
updates only the files that exists in the archive. This
command can be accessed directly with CTRL+F key from the
work screen.
$2100E extract
Select Extract from archive to extract all tagged files and
directories from the archive and expand to its original
format. This command can be accessed directly with CTRL+E
key from the work screen.
$1600$ display selections
Select Utility to view, delete, print, or run archived
files or to test, convert an archive. You can also view or
delete files from disk.
$1600V display file
Select View file to display the highlighted file at the
current position from either a DOS file or an archived
file. Files are displayed in text format. This command can
be accessed directly with CTRL+V key from the work screen.
$1600D delete
Select Delete files to erase all tagged files from both DOS
files and archived files. Confirmation is required.
$1600P Print
Select Print files to print all tagged files from the
archive. Files are printed in text format.
$1600R Run
Select Run program to run the highlighted program at the
current position.
$1600T Test
Select Test archive to test an archive for possible damage.
$1600C Convert
Select Convert archive to convert archived files created
with earlier versions of ARC to the more highly compressed
format that ARC+Plus creates.
$1F00$ display selections
Select sort to arrange files in different order and select
a subset of files with a wild card filter.
$1F00N sort
Select sort by Name to sort files in disk and on archive by
name in alphabetical order.
$1F00E sort
Select sort by Extension to sort files in disk and on
archive by Extension in alphabetical order.
$1F00S sort
Select sort by Size to sort files both in disk and on
archive by file size in descending order (largest files
first).
$1F00D sort
Select sort by Date to sort files both in disk and on
archive by last modified date-time in ascending order
(oldest files first).
$1F00C sort
Select sort by Comment to sort files both in disk and on
archive by comment in alphabetical order.
$1F00F specify filter
Select Filter to specify the subset of files according to
DOS wild card file specification (the default is "*.*").
This command can be accessed directly with the * key from
the work screen.
$1800$ display selections
Select Options to review or change the options that control
how ARC will operate. You can select several options from
this menu at the same time.
$1800C add comment
Select Comment to document a file or directory with a 25
character comment from the disk. IF YOU ADD these files to
an archive, the comments will be added with them. Otherwise
the comments will be discarded upon exit. This command can
be accessed directly with the ! key from the work screen.
$1800M toggle on or off
Select Move files to tell ARC to delete tagged files or
directories from disk after it adds them to the archive or
updates the archive.
$1800O toggle on or off
Select Overwrite to tell ARC to replace an existing file
with one by the same name that you are extracting from the
archive. It does NOT prompt you to confirm that it should
overwrite the existing file.
$1800P toggle on or off
Select save/use Path to tell ARC to save files with its path
or restore it to its original directory during extraction.
$1800A toggle on or off
Select save/set Attributes to tell ARC to save files with
their attributes or restore them with their attributes.
$1800H toggle on or off
Select include Hidden files to tell ARC to save hidden and
system files.
$1800D toggle on or off
Select Directories to tell ARC to save directory and sub-
directory names in the archive.
$1800V toggle on or off
Select create multi-Volume to tell ARC to save to multiple
diskettes. This is not required for DOS 3.0 or later.
$1800K toggle on or off
Select Keep original archive to keep a backup copy of any
archive that you are changing. The file name for the backup
of the original archive uses the ".BAK" extension.
$1800S specify password
Select Set password to specify the password used for
encryption. Actions taken from now on will be scrambled for
protection. If you add files with the password, you must
set the exact same password to extract them properly.
$1800R turn off password
Select Reset password to tell ARC to stop using a password.
$3200$ display options
Select Mode to choose from five different modes of data
compression or two different ways of displaying files.
$3200M toggle on or off
Select Maximum compression to tell ARC to compress files as
much as possible. This is the default setting.
$3200Q toggle on or off
Select Quickest method to tell ARC to compress files as fast
as possible.
$32005 toggle on or off
Select level 5 compatible to create archive files that can
be extracted with ARC 5.0 or any later version. This is the
most widely supported format.
$32006 toggle on or off
Select level 6 compatible to create an archive that can be
extracted with ARC 6.0 or any later version.
$3200S toggle on or off
Select Store only to tell ARC to save files to the archive
without compressing them.
$3200C toggle on or off
Select Show comment to display files or directories with
their comments, if comments were entered previously.
Otherwise, it displays the size and date/time of files.
$2D00$ display selections
Select Exit to return to DOS.
$2D00Y exit to DOS
Select Yes to exit to DOS.
$2D00N return to work screen
Select No to return to the ARC work screen.
