Welcome to the Computer Library(TM) PC Magazine Reviews Index
This database contains a cumulative index to the more than 1100 software
and hardware reviews and evaluations that appeared in PC Magazine from
January 12, 1988 through June 12, 1990.
The PC Magazine Reviews Index is a small part of the Computer Library
Computer Periodicals Database, distributed by Ziff Communications Company
monthly on CD-ROM and on-line through PC Magazine's PC MagNet.
The CD-ROM version the Computer Periodicals Database contains an entire
year's worth of full text articles and abstracts from over 140 computer
and technology-related periodicals published in the United States and
Great Britain, including PC Magazine. The on-line version contains two
year's worth of articles and abstracts.
The software you are using to retrieve citations from the PC Magazine
Reviews Index is a fully functional copy of Lotus Development Corporation's
BlueFish(R) Searchware -- the same software utilized in Computer Library
Computer Periodicals Database on CD-ROM. It allows subscribers to easily
navigate through the more than 55,000 articles and abstracts available to
them each month.
If you would like more information about the Computer Periodicals Database
on CD-ROM please call: 212-503-4400. If you would like to search the
Computer Periodicals Database on-line, sign onto PC MagNet using the
instructions appearing in any copy of PC Magazine.
The remainder of this Information Screen contains some notes relating to
the structure of the PC Magazine Reviews Index.
DATABASE NOTES
Each citation includes bibliographic and descriptive data that can be used
to refine your searches, such as: date, volume, issue, page number,
title, author(s), and article type (hardware review or software review).
Citations are annotated to indicate subject matter and content. Annotations
include companies discussed, product names, and subject terms selected from
controlled vocabularies to provide consistent search criteria.
Words that generally are not relevant in a search, such as "a," "the," and
"that" are masked. By masking such words, BlueFish Searchware is able to
find citations that match your query faster. Entering a masked word will
result in an unsuccessful query. The following is a list of masked words:
