- Pat,
-
- As explained in the submission message, this file is called viterbi.tar.Z. It
- contains a piece of software for the IBM PC, both in source form and executable
- form, as well as a couple of README files.
-
- The purpose of the program is to demonstrate the operation of convolutional
- encoders/decoders, also known as trellis codes (or the Viterbi algorithm). The
- source code to this program comes from Appendix A of Sklar's textbook on
- Digital Communications. Having followed his 1-week course, I was given this
- program by Prof. Sklar on a diskette, just like all the other students.
-
- I have obtained specific permission from Prof. Sklar to submit this
- software for inclusion in the Telecom Archives, provided the credits
- are kept intact (they are in the file READ.ME).
-
- Best regards,
-
