- Mailing instructions and syntax
- ===============================
-
- *All* postings, services and orders to the list is done by writing to
- dastmail@sth.frontec.se!
-
- Commands should be written as the first line of the mail. Several commands
- can be written on subsequent lines.
-
- To write postings to the list:
- Just post a mail. The mail will be sent to everybody in the list, including
- yourself (if you're in the list of course). If you post a mail bigger than
- 50000 bytes, it will not immediately get posted to the list, but require a
- confirmation mail to be sent (the list program will prompt you for that), to
- prevent large mistakes to end up getting sent to a large crowd of people.
-
- To un-subscribe from the list:
- Enter 'SUB <email address>' on the first line of the body. Aliases to this
- command include UNSUBSCRIBE and DELETE. If you send the mail from the
- same address you want to remove from the list, you can use ME or MYSELF
- instead of the actual address. That makes any of the following commands
- valid: 'unsubscribe <address>', 'sub me', 'delete myself',
- 'unsubscribe myself' and 'delete <address>'.
- Note that you are capable of adding and removing other addresses than your
- own! (The deleted person will receive an information mail.)
-
- To subscribe to the list:
- Enter 'ADD <email address>' on the first line of the body. Other accepted
- forms include 'subscribe <address>', 'add me', 'subscribe myself'. The
- latter two only work if the From: field of your mail matches the address
- you want to subscribe with. Adding the same address several times will
- not make the address appear more than once in the list. The added address
- will receive this instruction text!
-
- Further services:
- "GET <word>"
- Where <word> can be:
- FILELIST - the list of files available is returned.
- USERLIST - the email addresses of the list subscribers is returned
- <file> - from the filelist returns the uuencoded file.
-
- "HELP"
- Returns this instruction/help text.
-
- "SEND"
- And then should one or more uuencoded files follow. They are then put
- in the file area, available for other users. Aliases are UPLOAD or
- even straight uuencoded files starting on the first line. It is not
- possible to upload files with the same names that are already present.
- They will simply disappear. Paths of uploaded files are ignored.
-
- "REPLACE"
- Like SEND, but this can replace an already present file.
-
- More commands/features are likely to appear in future revisions. Please
- contribute with ideas and suggestions.
