  14. 1. DESCRIPTION- Graphit enhanced Grid Component for Delphi 1 & 2
  15. ===============================================================
  16. Graphit 5.31 A Graph module which can generate, view and print graphs
  17. e.g. line, pie, bar and scatter. Can be used in conjunction with
  18. Printit to generate reports consisting of graphs and most of
  19. the visual components. Includes help and keyword files.

  21. This copy of  Graphit displays a UNREGISTERED COPY OF Graphit message on the
  22. screen if not registered. If you register, you will receive an activation
  23. code that disables the nag screen.

  26. 2. DEFINITION OF SHAREWARE
  27. ---------------------------

  29. Shareware distribution gives users a chance to try software before buying it.
  30. If you try a Shareware program and continue using it, you are expected to
  31. register. Individual programs differ on details -- some request registration
  32. while others require it, some specify a maximum trial period. With registration
  33. , you get anything from the simple right to continue using the software to an
  34. updated program with printed manual.

  36. Copyright laws apply to both Shareware and commercial software, and the
  37. copyright holder retains all rights, with a few specific exceptions as
  38. stated below. Shareware authors are accomplished programmers, just like
  39. commercial authors, and the programs are of comparable quality. (In both
  40. cases, there are good programs and bad ones!) The main difference is in
  41. the method of distribution. The author specifically grants the right to
  42. copy and distribute the software, either to all and sundry or to a specific
  43. group. For example, some authors require written permission before a commercial
  44. disk vendor may copy their Shareware.

  46. Shareware is a distribution method, not a type of software. You should find
  47. software that suits your needs and pocketbook, whether it's commercial or
  48. Shareware. The Shareware system makes fitting your needs easier, because you
  49. can try before you buy. And because the overhead is low, prices are low also.
  50. Shareware has the ultimate money-back guarantee -- if you don't use the
  51. product, you don't pay for it.

  54. 3. DISCLAIMER - AGREEMENT

  57. Users of Graphit must accept this disclaimer of warranty: "Graphit is supplied
  58. as is.  The author disclaims all warranties, expressed or implied, including,
  59. without limitation, the warranties of merchantability and of fitness for any
  60. purpose. The author assumes no liability for damages, direct or consequential,
  61. which may result from the use of Graphit." Graphit is a "shareware product"
  62. and is provided at no charge to the user for evaluation.  Feel free to share
  63. it with your friends, but please do not give it away when registered. The
  64. essence of "user-supported" software is to provide personal computer users
  65. with quality software without high prices, and yet to provide incentive for
  66. programmers to continue to develop new products.  If you find this product
  67. useful and find that you are using Graphit and continue to use Graphit after
  68. a reasonable trial period, you must register it with Calitz Bros. through Kagi
  69. software or Compuserve.  This registration fee will license one copy for use
  70. on any one computer at any one time. The registration and the activation code
  71. will be valid for future minor upgrades,  bug fixes and enhancements to
  72. Graphit Version 5.x.   When we have received your payment,  we will e-mail,
  73. fax or post your activation code to you. You must treat this software just
  74. like a book.  An example is that this software may be used by any number of
  75. people and may be freely moved from one computer location to another, so long
  76. as there is no possibility of it being used at one location while it's being
  77. used at another. Just as a book cannot be read by two different persons at
  78. the same time. Programs developed by using the Graphit components may be
  79. distributed without any additional royalties.

  81. Commercial users of Graphit must register and pay for their copies of Graphit
  82. within 30 days of first use or their license is withdrawn.

  84. Anyone distributing Graphit for any kind of remuneration must first contact
  85. Calitz Bros. at the address below for authorization. This authorization will
  86. be automatically granted to shareware distributors, and such distributors
  87. may begin offering Graphit immediately (However Calitz Bros. must still be
  88. advised so that the distributor can be kept up-to-date with the latest version
  89. of Graphit.).

  91. Graphit has a nag screen which displays when Graphit is not registered. If
  92. registered then this nag screen will dissapear.

  94. You are encouraged to pass a copy of Graphit along to your friends for
  95. evaluation.  Please encourage them to register their copy if they find
  96. that they can use it.

  99. 4. THE ZIP FILES
  100. ----------------
  101. Graphit consists of the following files:
  102.  
  103. 1. GRPH.ZIP which contains
  104.    GRPCP_16.ZIP - The 16-bit components for Delphi 1.x
  105.    GRPCP_32.ZIP - The 32-bit components for Delphi 2.x
  106.    GRPHLP.ZIP   - The .HLP and .KWF files
  107.    HISTORY.LOG  - The history logfile of the grid
  108.    README.1ST   - This readme file
  109.    REGISTER.ZIP - The register file
  110.    ACTIVATE.ZIP - The activation program.

  112. GRPCP_16.ZIP and GRPCP_32.ZIP must be extracted into separate directories.

  114. 5. INSTALLING Graphit COMPONENTS
  115. --------------------------------
  116.  
  117. 5.1. Backup the component library file named COMPLIB.DCL in your \DELPHI\BIN
  118. directory.  This will allow you to restore your component library if you
  119. encounter any problems during the installation process.
  120.  
  121. 5.2. Start DELPHI and select Options | Install Components from the menu.
  122. Click on the Add button when the Install Components dialog is displayed.
  123.  
  124.      To install Graphit,
  125.  
  126.             Click on the Browse button and select the file Graphit.PAS
  127.             in the directory where Graphit  was extracted
  128.  
  129. 5.3. Click on OK to return to the Install Components Dialog Box and click
  130. on OK to accept the changes.  DELPHI will now install the new components.
  131. A new page will be created on the component bar called  Graphit that contains
  132. the new components.

  135. 6. INSTALLING THE KEYWORD HELP (To access from Delphi)
  136. ------------------------------------------------------

  138. 6.1.    Execute the file  HELPINST.EXE  in the \DELPHI\HELP directory.
  139.  
  140. 6.2.    Select  File | Open  from the menu.
  141.  
  142. 6.3.    Open the file  DELPHI.HDX  in the  \DELPHI\BIN directory.
  143.  
  144. 6.4.    Select  Keywords |Add  Keyword file from the menu.
  145.  
  146. 6.5.    Select the file  Graphit.KWF  in the directory where the
  147.         files were extracted.

  149. 6.6.    Select  File | Save from the menu.

  152. Note:  To access help from the demos - Copy the help file named Graphit.HLP
  153. in the Graphit directory to your windows directory.

  156. 7. REMOVING Graphit COMPONENTS
  157. ------------------------------

  159. 7.1.  Start DELPHI and select Options | Install Components from the menu.
  160. Click on the Graphit unit (to remove Graphit) and then on the Remove button.

  162. 7.2.  Click on OK to remove the components from the component bar.
  163.  
  164. 7.3.    Remove the directory where Graphit was installed.
  165.  
  166. 7.4.  Remove the icons and group from the Print Manager screen

  169. 8. GENERAL INFORMATION
  170. ----------------------

  172. Graphit sells for $US50 without source code. We reserve the right to
  173. change prices or alter the components without notice.

  175. We would appreciate any comment or suggestion to improve the Graphit
  176. product further. New versions are coming out frequently with bug fixes
  177. and enhancements. Please let us know if  there is any other requirement
