The MiGs take the bait, and within minutes a SPI formation of four MiG-15s comes streaking toward the Sabres at high speed. After losing his radio to a malfunction, Lt. Colonel Bruce Hinton, the leader of the USAF formation, nearly becomes Le' separated from his wingmen. He is able to maneuver behind one of the fast-moving MiGs and shoot it down with several concentrated bursts from his guns. It is the first "kill" for the new F-86 Sabre.
