The data link is a connector and cable dedicated to communication between a palmtop computer and a larger system. It enables transmission of data to and from the larger unit. Some even allow connection to a larger, full-sized |monitor|. The data link can be patched through a special |external modem| so that it may connect over telephone lines. This greatly increases the palmtop's utility as an "in-the-field" computer.
