A touchpad is a type of pointing input device which uses pressure sensitive electronic elements, arrayed in a pad. This registers the position of a pointer as it touches the pad. This is then translated to a specific ~cursor~ location on the |video display|. Unlike relative pointing devices (such as the |mouse|, |trackball|, and |joystick|) the touchpad is an absolute pointing device. Coordinates on the pad correspond directly to coordinates on the display.
