-
- 3.0 RedEdit FAQ
-
- 3.1 Q. How do I change the Scud Launcher to fire rapidly?
- A. As the Scud Laucher is a vehicle, open the vehicle settings window. The Scud
- launcher settings should now be on-screen. Now click on the weapons combo box
- with the right mouse button and select properties. The weapon statistics window
- will now appear. Find the Rate of Fire setting (2nd from the right on the second
- row) and change that to 15. (15 = 1 second pause between shots).
-
- 3.2 Q. How do I make England's Ground units move quicker?
- A. Quite simple this, open the countries settings window. The settings for England
- will be displayed, you can change the multiplier for the ground speed to what
- ever you like (with the limits). If the multiplier is '2.0' then that means that
- the ground units will move twice as quick as if it was set to '1.0'
-
- 3.3 Q. The harvester doesn't appear when I build a refinery, what can I do?
- A. This is normally caused by a bad combination of settings in the countries
- window. There is no sure solution for this, try lowering the speed multipiers,
- that seemed to work for me.
-
- 3.4 Q. The Artilery turns too slowly, what can I do to speed that up?
- A. The turn speed is determined by the setting called Rate of Turn for the vehicles.
- Open the vehicles form and click the select button and select Mobile Artilery.
- Then lower the setting called Rate of Turn. This will speed up the turning speed
- To increase the overall speed, increase the speed setting.
-
- 3.5 Q. Can I make any projectile Homing?
- A. Yes, but you need the registered version. (Sorry!)
-
- 3.6 Q. How can I construct a building that I normally can't.
- A. Quite easily, however you need the registered version.
-
- 3.7 Q. Can I increase the chance of getting a NUKE in a crate?
- A. Yes, you need to increase the number of shares (more shares -> higher chance)
- you need to open the crates form, then select the NUKE powerup. Change the
- number of shares for a higher value to increase the chance of the NUKE in a crate.
-
- 3.8 Q. I have changed the tech levels for the Giant Ants, and the queen ant but I can't
- build them - whats up?
- A. Check to see that you have selected the "Enable Counterstrike Enhancements" on the
- file settings tab in the options dialog box. Without this they won't be included
- in the Rules.ini
-
- 3.9 Q. I can't find the ants in RedEdit97 - where are they?
- A. Red Alert classes the Queen and Larva and Larvae as Structures, hence that's where
- they are. The actual ants themselves are classed as vehicles and are therefore
- under the vehicles settings.
-
- * 3.95Q. Why can't I see the information about the changed settings in the changes browser?
- A. Check that the option "Show only titles of changed Settings" is not checked.
-
- 4.0 The shareware licence allows you to copy this program and distribute it as much
- as you like as long as the following rules are abided by.
- 4.1 The accompaning files are to be kept intact and not changed.
- 4.2 The program is not sold for a charge (except a nominal fee for any disks)
- 4.3 You are not allowed to decompile, re-enginer or generally mess around with
- the program or any accompaning files at all.
- 4.4 The program can not be used on a magazine or other publication CD or disk
- without the prior permission of RedEdit's authors (S.Childs or R.Williams
- - for e-mail address see bug reports section)
- 4.5 Other then the rules above, you can do what you like!!
-
- 5.0 Installation problems
- 5.1 Application group not created.
- For some reason, install shield express, which is used for
- the install program doesn't create a program group, it
- creates a shortcut to a directory on the programs menu. To
- correct this you need to do the following :
-
- i) identify where RedEdit was installed, off that
- directory will be a sub-directory called 'RedEdit97'
- this directory contains the shortcuts to the programs.
-
- ii) Copy the files and the directory into windows\startmenu\programs
- and this should create a program group.
-
- iii) You also need to remove the shortcut to the RedEdit directory. (Named :
- windows\startmenu\programs\rededit97.lnk
-
- A utility to do this automatically is being designed.
-
- 5.2 I get a message saying vcl30.dpl or alike, is missing; what is wrong?
- This is because RedEdit can't find the run time support files. To get these
- logon to any of the RedEdit sites and the link is at the top of the
- download page.
-

- re97p.dpl \
- inet.dpl |
- vcl30.dpl |- Runtime support files.
- vclsmp30.dpl |
- vclx30.dpl /
- the main reason behind this is that when you download an update or
- I e-mail you the pro version, it means I'm not having to mail things
- that you have allready got (When, as before the above support files were
- contained in the main EXE), not to mention, it keeps the size of the
- exe down to a minimum.
