- S020: "It is pitch dark, and you can't see a thing."
- S021: "As good-looking as ever."
- S022: "Nameless item"
- S023: "your former self"
- S024: "This is your warm overcoat, keeping you warm in this cold."
- S025: "This is a thin, old shirt with a breast pocket on its left side."
- S026: " You're standing near the side of a frozen lake. Boys and girls from
- the village are ice-skating on the lake. A snow-covered path leads northwest
- around the lake and east into the village."
- S027: "She's the most beautiful girl you've ever seen; she seems just as old as
- you, her long blond hair flows gently over her shoulders and her every move is
- so graceful that you immediately fall in love."
- S028: "some"
- S029: "The lake is frozen, bright sunlight glitters on its mirror-like surface.
- Boys and girls from the village are ice-skating on the lake, cheering all the
- time."
- S030: "The old willow is a sorry sight. If trees can weep, this willow does."
- S031: "some"
- S032: "Some ice-skates, probably forgotten by someone, lie beneath the old
- willow."
- S033: "You're no bird."
- S034: "The lake is frozen, remember."
- S035: "The hill is very steep, but climbing up should be possible."
- S036: " You're now north of the village, walking down the riverside. The road
- suddenly ends here, the only way to go is back to the west."
- S037: "A bear is here, standing on an ice-floe, trying to catch some fish."
- S038: "The huge bear is trying to catch some fish."
- S039: "The bear has already catched a fish."
- S040: " You're here in a totally calm part of the lake area. No animals, no
- cheering voices, no children, in fact, not a single being can be seen here.
- It's just you and nature. A steep slope leads up on a hill, and a snow-covered
- path runs around the hill to the southeast."
- S041: "Though climbing up might be possible, it would be too dangerous to climb
- down. You might slip and fall to your death."
- S042: " You're standing within a forest which looks like one out of the winter
- tales your mother told you when you were a child. Fresh snow covers the ground
- and trees, and it's totally quiet here. You've never seen such a peaceful
- place. The path you're on continues to the northwest and east. Dense
- undergrowth marks the boundary of the path to the south. At one spot, it looks
- as if someone who climbed up the hill broke through it."
- S043: "The slope is covered with ice, you'd slip and fall to your death as soon
- as you'd put your foot on it."
- S044: " This is an open place, surrounded by a forest on three sides. To the
- west, there's a slope leading down to the lake. Paths lead into the forest to
- the southeast, north and east. A small chapel overlooks the whole valley."
- S045: "The small chapel is standing on an open place within the forest,
- overlooking the valley below. Its doors stand invitingly open."
- S046: "The slope leads down into the valley. However, it's covered with ice, so
- you probably wouldn't get down safely."
- S047: "The altar has been decorated for tonight's Christmas Mass with candles.
- "
- S048: "some"
- S049: " You follow the path deep into the woods where it bends to the west and
- northeast. Another path leads east to an open place."
- S050: " You step out from the dark woods and are greeted by bright daylight as
- you step onto an open field surrounded by woods. In the north, where the field
- meets the trees, beautiful snowdrops are growing, nearly invisible in the white
- world."
- S051: "some"
- S052: "some"
- S053: "Gentle drops of morning dew cover the snowdrops."
- S054: "Gentle drops of morning dew cover the snowdrop."
- S055: " You've just broken into a woodcutter's hut. It's furnished cozy, but
- it's really cold in here. The only noteworthy thing about this hut are the
- carvings which cover the walls. The door is to the south."
- S056: "A mirror is hanging on the wall."
- S057: "You see an amazingly clear reflection of yourself."
- S058: "It's a silver whistle."
- S059: "Lying on the table is a whistle."
- S060: "A rifle is leaning at the wall in a corner of the hut."
- S061: "some"
- S062: "The carvings are really beautiful, each of them made by a skilled hand."
- S063: "It's a small, lovely house, nestled among the trees."
- S064: "A sign is standing near the door of the house."
- S065: " Malvin the Healer
- If you need my help, I have opened 24 hours a day, 7 days a week."
- S066: ""It's some spray which - if sprayed on a person - will invoke great
- desire and true fascination for something he or she does, sees or is told
- about. However, it must be something worth admiring or at least something the
- charmed person thinks is worth admiring."
- S067: ""What you must bring me are a piece of life, the perfect tear of an
- angel and infinity captured in a finite space.""
- S068: " As you enter the healer's house, the sweet smell of herbs floods over
- you. Indeed, all sorts of herbs are hanging on the walls. In the middle of the
- small room, an old man is standing, leaning over a cauldron in which he's
- brewing some strange but nevertheless good smelling liquid. The door lies
- behind you to the south."
- S069: "The healer is an old man, but what's most funny about him is his size:
- he's a whole head smaller than you."
- S070: "You've never seen such herbs before. You wonder where they might come
- from."
- S071: "some"
- S072: "A strange liquid is bubbling in the cauldron."
- S073: "It's a red, bubbling liquid which smells good. It must be some sort of
- healing potion."
- S074: "This is the special healing ointment the healer made for you."
- S075: "an"
- S076: "There's an axe leaning against a nearby tree."
- S077: "Wrinkles in his face show that he is not the youngest anymore."
- S078: "the"
- S079: "some"
- S080: "This is some wood which has yet to be cut."
- S081: "Some freshly cut wood is lying here."
- S082: "some"
- S083: " You're standing in front of the entrance to a cavern. When sunlight
- falls inside, it's glittering inside as if the walls of the cavern would be
- covered with diamonds. The cavern may be entered to the north, and a path heads
- southeast towards the woods."
- S084: "A flyer is lying in the snow near the cave entrance."
- S085: "The flyer shows the most beautiful crystals you've ever seen. Printed on
- it are the words: "Visit the Crystal Cavern"."
- S086: "It's dark inside, but you can make out something glittering inside the
- cavern."
- S087: "A grim looking guardian is sitting in front of the cavern."
- S088: " As you enter the crystal cavern, you are overwhelmed by the sheer
- beauty of the crystals which cover the walls. The guardian is here, extremely
- happy to answer the youngsters' neverending flow of questions concerning the
- big crystal floating in the middle of the cavern a few inches above the
- ground."
- S089: "You are amazed by the big crystal. It's the most beautiful crystal
- you've ever seen - and it's floating above ground!"
- S090: "some"
- S091: "Many crystals cover the walls of the cavern, glittering in rainbow
- colors."
- S092: "The crystal glitters and sparkles like a diamond."
- S093: " You've just reached a fork in the road, where the road that comes in
- from the west bends to the east and southeast. To the southeast, the wood seems
- to become darker."
- S094: " You continue walking the forest path for some time until you come to a
- huge chestnut tree. Despite the sharp frost, you stop and pause for a minute.
- After a minute or two spent absorbing the silence completely, you decide to
- move on. The path heads north and southwest, to the west is the castle wall."
- S095: "A young boy is here, sitting on his toboggan. He's crying."
- S096: "A toboggan was left behind here."
- S097: " You've just reached a small clearing deep within the woods. Looking up
- into the lonely sky, you can not even see a single cloud, the sky is blue and
- clear like an ocean. Unfortunately, the path that comes in from the south ends
- here. The clearing is surrounded by thorny undergrowth, not allowing you to
- pass."
- S098: "The undergrowth is too thorny to go that way."
- S099: "The fawn is very beautiful. A deep wound is gaping in its side; it seems
- to be very serious."
- S100: "A fawn is lying on the ground. It looks as if it is wounded seriously.
- "Please," it speaks to you. "Please, take pity on me! Help me, or I will die!""
- S101: " The further you go, the darker the wood becomes. Here at this spot,
- the Christmas atmosphere has almost vanished, you feel uneasy. The fork lies
- behind you to the northwest, and the woods become even darker to the south."
- S102: "A wolf is lurking nearby."
- S103: "The wolf looks emaciated, he is only skin and bone. His eyes sparkle as
- you approach, but he cannot hide his dull look. "Food," he says. "I'm starving.
- Please, some food.""
- S104: "The ice flower looks just as if it was made of crystal, but when you
- touch it, you can feel its fragility... it consists of ice!"
- S105: " You're standing in front of a lovely small house within the forest.
- You are amazed by the beautiful garden the owner has layed out. There are four
- square flower-beds upon which ice flowers are growing. Between the beds, four
- garden paths run directly to a well in the middle of the garden. The house lies
- to the east, while the road back into the woods runs west."
- S106: "A lovely white front door is set into one wall of the house."
- S107: "some"
- S108: "Ice flowers are growing on the flower-beds."
- S109: "some"
- S110: "an"
- S111: " You're now standing in the well. A thick ice layer covers the ground
- of it. Well, now that you've seen that there's nothing of importance here, you
- may want to get out again."
- S112: "This is the hole through which you "came in" from the well. However, it
- is out of reach now."
- S113: "Spread everywhere in the room is garbage. Anyway, if I wouldn't tell you
- that it actually is garbage, there would be a chance that you mistaken the
- cellar by either the studio of a modern artist (if you're somewhat nuts) or a
- PC shop (if you're a normal human being)."
- S114: "It's a small piece of rope, about two inches long."
- S115: "the"
- S116: "The Flames of Infinity are burning within the jar."
- S117: " spreads its warmth and brightness throughout the room. "
- S118: "A pleasantly warm fire is crackling in the fireplace."
- S119: "It's sleeping merrily, sightly enjoying the coziness of the fire."
- S120: "It's a soft carpet with a beautiful pattern on it. It must have been
- expensive."
- S121: "The cupboard was handcrafted with much love."
- S122: "It's a can with some spray in it. However, you don't know what's in
- there, unless there is no label on the can."
- S123: "Where the cat slept, you see a small key on the floor."
- S124: " You're in a low and narrow crawlway behind the fireplace which runs
- west and east."
- S125: " You've just entered a small storage room. Some barrels and all sorts
- of food are stored here. However, most of the food looks or smells as if it was
- beyond expiration date."
- S126: "The only way out of the storage is west."
- S127: "some"
- S128: "Some food is here, not quite fresh."
- S129: "some"
- S130: "Some meat is lying on one of the barrels. Unlike the other food, it
- seems to be quite fresh."
- S131: "some"
- S132: "Maybe the barrels contain water or wine. The barrels are all closed, and
- their lids have been locked."
- S133: "If you want to get into the moat, say so."
- S134: "The broken branch from the chestnut tree."
- S135: "The water in the fountain is frozen."
- S136: "A wide moat lies between you and the castle. As you would expect, the
- water in the moat is frozen."
- S137: "some"
- S138: "Some bushes are growing in the castle garden."
- S139: "A lever is hidden in one of the bushes."
- S140: "The castle wall is a high stone wall, much too high to be climbed."
- S141: " You're standing on the frozen surface of what is known in the
- summertime as "water". The moat continues to the "
- S142: "Yikes! You slither on the ice as you try to walk on it. You slip and
- slide...
- "
- S143: "If you want to get out of the moat, say so."
- S144: "As you enter the entry hall, you catch the glimpse of a shadow
- disappearing in the banquet hall.
- "
- S145: " This is the entry hall of the castle which is to your astonishment
- made of - ice, as is the huge chandelier hanging above you. You may leave the
- castle to the south, smaller doorways lead north, west and east."
- S146: "Just as the castle itself, the chandelier seems to be made of ice."
- S147: "Incredibly, the shadow seems to be moving."
- S148: " You find yourself at the bottom of some stairs winding up. The entry
- hall is to the south."
- S149: "You follow the shadow into the banquet hall, but to your astonishment,
- there's nobody there!
- "
- S150: " The castle's banquet hall is the largest room within the castle. Most
- of the room is occupied by a long table at which up to about twenty guests can
- take place. Several paintings cover the icy walls of this room which only exit
- lies west of here."
- S151: "The long table offers enough room for about twenty guests. It was made
- of the highest-grade mahogany and bears beautiful ornaments."
- S152: "There are four paintings which show landscapes of all four seasons:
- spring, summer, autumn and winter."
- S153: "On this painting, you see a beach. The sun shines warm and bright, and
- small children are playing in the sand and swimming in the water."
- S154: "It shows a path through a forest covered with golden leaves."
- S155: "On this painting, you see frozen lake upon which some children are
- ice-skating. However, one boy is sitting by the side of the lake, obviously not
- as happy as the others."
- S156: " This is the kitchen, a cold and miserable place. Pots and pans from
- the last banquet were hastily stacked in disorder, not even cleaned of the
- left-overs of the meal."
- S157: "some"
- S158: "Looks like nobody took the time to wash up the pots and pans."
- S159: "A young maid is sitting here, her face hung in tears."
- S160: "Her skin and clothes are battered from the hard work, but she must have
- been a beautiful girl."
- S161: " You're standing in an ice corridor running from a smaller room in the
- west to the east where it ends at a golden double door. Some stairs are leading
- down."
- S162: "A majestic golden double door is set into the eastern wall of the
- corridor."
- S163: "The double door is open."
- S164: "The double door is closed."
- S165: " This is a small room which looks bigger than it actually is, which is
- partly due to the pure and clean ice on the west wall which mirrors the room.
- The exit is to the east. Most of the room is occupied by a large gaming table."
- S166: "[This game and instructions came along with your game disc.]"
- S167: "The reflections seem to be endless."
- S168: "some"
- S169: "It's green, with yellow dots. Some writing on the towel reads "Don't
- Panic!"."
- S170: "Answer my small riddle, and I shall reward you. Fail, and feel my wrath.
- What is this? It lives and yet it's dead, it smiles and yet it cries, it knows
- nothing and yet knows everything.""
- S171: "some"
- S172: "Red banners bearing the Lord's coat of arms hang down from the ceiling."
- S173: "His coat of arms shows a black eagle."
- S174: "It's a majestical, golden throne which occupies almost the whole wall."
- S175: " He looks evil and mean, and you're almost sure he has dark secrets to
- keep."
- S176: " You're standing on a green meadow with blooming flowers and green
- trees. A hut can be entered to the northwest."
- S177: "Looks like you're in the painting."
- S178: "It's a Chihuahua, the sort of dog you'll have to take care of or it'll
- get lost in the gaps between you floor tiles."
- S179: "A small wooden hut that was built in this idyllic scenery may be entered
- to the northwest."
- S180: " This one-room hut is indeed as small as it appears from the outside.
- Amazingly enough, there are only a bed and a bedside table here, both very
- small."
- S181: "Lying under the bed is a bag."
- S182: "some"
- S183: "It's december, just as you would expect."
- S184: "A small man is sleeping in the bed."
- S185: "The man is amazingly small and has a white beard. He's snoring softly."
- S186: " You're struggling through the thorny undergrowth. The clearing lies to
- the west, and someone broke through the thorny bushes to the east."
- S187: " This is the top of a hill. From here, you have an amazing view over
- the lake and the village. A path leads down the hill to the south."
- S188: "Something's glittering in the snow... it looks like a gold watch!"
- S189: "It's a beautiful and valueable gold watch."
- S190: " You've come to a small farmyard which lies deserted in the snow. A
- farmhouse may be entered to the north, and near the farm is a pump. To the
- west, a path leads through snow-covered fields back to the hill."
- S191: "This is the pump mechanism which supplies the farm with water."
- S192: "The farmhouse is small and lovely but poor."
- S193: "The farm door stands invitingly open."
- S194: "The farm door is shut."
- S195: "The bucket is filled to the brim with clear water."
- S196: "some"
- S197: " You've just entered a small, lovely farmhouse, home to an old farmer
- and his daughter. The smell of Christmas biscuits hangs in the air, and
- beautiful frost flowers adorne the window. An open doorway leads north into
- another room, and the way back out of the farmhouse is south."
- S198: "Would you like it if strangers would walk through your house?"
- S199: "An old farmer is sitting here, lost in thoughts."
- S200: "The old man is lost in thoughts. The shadow of desperation flickers in
- his dull eyes."
- S201: "The farmer's daughter is here, scrubbing the floor."
- S202: "She is the girl you met in the castle."
- S203: "January"
- S204: "February"
- S205: "March"
- S206: "April"
- S207: "May"
- S208: "June"

- S210: "August"

- S212: "October"
- S213: "November"
- S214: "December"
- S215: " You can hardly believe what you see when you step out of the
- undergrowth. Spring has come, and the farmer's fields are green. The farmer and
- his daughter are standing here, sightly stunned. "Spring's there!" the old
- farmer laughs. "Spring's there!"
-
- You are invited to the farmhouse, celebrate Christmas and talk with the two
- until late in the evening, as suddenly the farmer gets up. "Time for Christmas
- Mass! I'll go and get the sleigh. I'll wait outside to meet you!"
- You go outside, where the farmer is already waiting for you in a sleigh
- dragged by two black horses. Only the jingling of the bells in their mane
- breaks the silence of Christmas night on your ride to the chapel.
- As you arrive at the chapel, the bells just began chiming. Christmas Mass is
- wonderful, the most wonderful mass you've ever been to - although you do not
- hear much of the mass. All you can think of is that beautiful girl sitting next
- to you. And then, when the mass is over, the farmer goes up to the priest.
- Although he whispers, you can hear him saying "Can you marry these two
- tonight?"
-
- Later, you sit together with your wife in front of the church, arm in arm,
- and recall the events of the day, a day that is burnt in your memory forever.
- Lying in the girl's arms, you just cannot believe how lonely you felt this
- morning.
-
- Then angels from the realms of glory wing their flight all over Earth. Ye who
- sang creation's story now proclaim Messiah's birth:
