- D-DAY - IMPRESSIONS
-
- The 6th June, 1944 saw the largest troop landing in the whole of human
- history. Around 200,000 troops were dropped on the Normandy beaches in
- a brave and valiant effort to drive back the Germans. To commemorate
- this faithful day, Impressions have produced a wargame that lets you
- play out the Normandy landings.
-
- To start the game, click on the 'Standard Scenario' with the left mouse
- button and choose the Allies as your side. (You can't play the Germans in
- this demo.) When the game starts, you'll be presented with the Unit Map.
-
- To move a unit, select it with the right mouse button and then move the
- cursor to the point on the map where you want the unit to go. Click the
- left mouse button, and if the unit has enough movement points left, it
- will move to that point on the map.
-
- To attack an enemy unit, move one of your units on top of it on the Unit
- Map. You will be asked whether you want to attack, so answer 'Yes' with
- the mouse.
-
- When you are in battle, you must first set up your troops. If you like
- them the way they are (this is normally best), then click on the button
- marked 'End Setup' at the bottom right-hand corner of the screen. After
- you've done this, you are free to order your troops as you please. You
- can make them move and fight as single soldiers, as units or as a whole.
- To make life easier, click on the 'All' button on the menu at the right-
- hand edge of the screen. To move your men, select one of them with the
- right mouse button, and then click on the map with the left button at the
- point you want your men to move to.
-
- If you can't be bothered to play all these battles, the 'Auto Play'
- button will work out who lives and dies for each side and declare a winner.
