-
- What is SUPER SCRAMBLE
- ======================
- SUPER SCRAMBLE is a 32-bit wcCODE executable (WCX32) game exclusively for
- Sysops running Wildcat! v5. It is a relatively simple, yet addictive word
- game with colorful graphics, and lots of features. Here are just some:
- - Additional words can be easily added
- - 'Hint' feature for the weak
- - Reveal correct answer (syop definable)
- - Bonus payoff for words with more than 8 letters
- - Top 10 scores bulletin
- - Online Help
- - True 32-bit WCX
-
- The object of the game is to solve the puzzle in the shortest amount of
- time. The letters in the puzzle will be mixed up randomly and a clue
- will be show with each puzzle to help the user in determining the answer.
- To make things more challenging, a timer will start at 60 seconds and count
- down to 0. While it is counting down, the prize value for the puzzle also
- decreases. Thus the quicker you solve the puzzle, the more money you win.
- Puzzles with more than 9 letters pay off double the amount.
-
- A neat feature that makes the game playable across all levels is the
- 'hint' feature. If you need some help trying to solve the puzzle, you
- may press 'R' to reveal a letter of the puzzle in the correct place.
- But it's going to cost you - $50 for each letter you turn over. Note,
- that you may not turn over more than half the number of letters in the
- puzzle.
-
-
- Registration
- ============
- SUPER SCRAMBLE is a *free* program for Wildcat! Sysops. It is NOT crippled
- in anyway. By calling the support board and getting your personal
- registration#, you will eliminate the "*UNREGISTERED*" prompt at the top
- of the display file and instead, your BBS Name will be displayed. A simple
- "thanks" will suffice :-)
-
-
- Setting up SUPER SCRAMBLE
- =========================
- SUPER SCRAMBLE is relatively easy to set up. If you have any problems,
- support is available on the Home board. If you any any comments or
- suggestions, please forward them asap. The following steps should get you up
- and running in under 5 minutes:
-
- 1. Unzipping the archive
- ---------------------
- Create a seperate directory for the game and unzip the contents of the
- archive into it. Copy the SUPERS.WCX into the wildcat home directory.
- This is a very important step! (the copy that is)
-
- 2. Editing the Configuration file
- ------------------------------
- SUPER SCRAMBLE reads most of its settings from a configuration file
- called SUPERS.CFG. This is a simple ascii file that must be modified
- to reflect your personal preferences. The format for each line in the
- file is noted in the SUPERS.CFG file. This file DOES NOT have to
- reside in the Wildcat home directory, so go edit it now!
-
- 3. Setting up the SUPERS.WCX
- -------------------------
- Fire up wcMENU and add a selection key on your door menu to run
- HILOW. Here is an example:
- Selection Key: 5
- Description: SUPER SCRAMBLE word game
- Command Type: Run wcCODE program
- Program: SUPERS
- Parameters: C:\DOORS\SUPERS <-------
- |
- Note that v5.1 of Super Scramble can be passed a parameter which
- will indicate the drive/directory that the game in installed in.
- This is very important if you are running wcOnline on a different
- machine than where the game is installed. Also make sure you set
- the proper access to this menu option by clicking the "Access" button.
- The "installed directory" will contain the following files:
- SUPERS.CFG, SUPERS.WRD, SUPERS.DAT (created)
-
-
- 4. Relax
- -----
- That's it - you are done.
-
-
- Adding puzzles to SUPER SCRAMBLE
- ================================
- SUPER SCRAMBLE reads its words and clues from a file called SUPERS.WRD,
- which must reside in the same directory as the SUPERS.WCX. The format of
- this file is quite simple and you may edit it as you wish. It is a simple
- ascii file in which each word (correctly spelt) and its clue must be on a
- line by itself. A comma must seperate the word and clue. Make sure that
- there is only ONE comma on each line (thus words with comma's in them are
- invalid). Here is an example of a few lines:
- wildcat,bulletin board software
- tampa,u.s. city
- december,month of the year
