  9.     Bashir and Ezri are too stunned to speak. Sarina 
  10.     turns and looks at them for the first time, and when 
  11.     she sees their faces, she realizes they actually 
  12.     heard her.
  13.  
  14.                     SARINA
  15.             You heard me...
  16.  
  17.     (NOTE: Sarina's speech patterns will gradually 
  18.     improve over the course of our story. At first, she 
  19.     has to concentrate to form her words, and even then 
  20.     they come out a bit clumsily, with a dissonant 
  21.     quality that stems from years of disuse.)

  23.                     SARINA
  24.                 (trying to make 
  25.                 sense of it) 
  26.             I thought something... and you 
  27.             heard it.
  28.  
  29.                     BASHIR
  30.                 (gently)
  31.             You spoke, Sarina...

  34.     Sarina reaches up with both hands to touch the sides 
  35.     of her mouth in wonder.
  36.  
  37.     For the first time ever, she SMILES -- it transforms 
  38.     her face, and we see how beautiful she can be.

  42. 22   INT. INFIRMARY
  43.  
  44.     As Ezri watches, Sarina slowly moves around the 
  45.     room, taking everything in -- the lights, the 
  46.     colors, the textures. Bashir, TRICORDER in hand, 
  47.     beckons her over to the bio-bed.
  48.  
  49.                     BASHIR 
  50.             Over here, Sarina. I want to 
  51.             check something.
  52.  
  53.     She smiles, moves to sit on the bio-bed, pausing to 
  54.     run her hand along its surface to feel its texture.
