  6.     The Kai is standing alone by the control console, her 
  7.     eyes moist with tears.
  8.  
  9.                     COMPUTER VOICE
  10.             Chroniton levels at thirty-nine
  11.             kilanons and climbing...
  12.  
  13.                     WINN
  14.                 (in a whisper)
  15.             May the Prophets forgive me...
  16.  
  17. 72   INT. PROMENADE (OPTICAL) 
  18.  
  19.     The BLUE LIGHT is brighter now. Both combatants 
  20.     realize they must flee. Their eyes lock, and the 
  21.     columns of ENERGY roiling between them DISSIPATE. Jake 
  22.     looks at Kira... and smiles ominously. The Pah-wraiths 
  23.     have escaped destruction.
  24.  
  25.     Suddenly TWO whirling vortexes of ENERGY (like the ones 
  26.     we saw in Scene 24) whip out of Kira and Jake and 
  27.     disappear into thin air --- the entities are gone.
  28.  
  29.     Kira staggers backward, Jake collapses limply to the 
  30.     deck. Sisko rushes over to his son. Kira blinks and 
  31.     tries to focus her eyes as the Captain cradles Jake in 
  32.     his arms. The veins in his face have returned to 
  33.     normal, but he doesn't respond to Sisko's words.
  34.  
  35.                     SISKO 
  36.             Jake. Jake.
  37.  
  38.     For a terrible moment it looks as if Jake might be 
  39.     dead, then the autonomic functions kick in and he draws 
  40.     a gasping breath.
  41.  
  42.     Relief washes over Sisko and he pulls his son close, 
  43.     rocking him tenderly in his arms. Off this moment...
  44.  
  45. 73   EXT. SPACE - DEEP SPACE NINE (OPTICAL)
  46.  
  47.     Ships return to the station. All is normal.
  48.  
  49. 74   INT. INFIRMARY
  50.  
  51.     Bashir checks some readings on a PADD, looks up at 
  52.     Sisko.
  53.  
  54.                     BASHIR 
  55.             He'll be laid up for a few days, 
  56.             but he's going to be all right.
