  6.     Sloan is seated at the table studying one of an 
  7.     assortment of PADDS arrayed within his reach. He looks 
  8.     up and nods to Chandler, who EXITS.
  9.  
  10.  
  11.     Sloan studies Bashir for a beat, then sets down his 
  12.     PADD and rises. Sloan has his jacket open and looks 
  13.     much more relaxed than in his previous scene. He 
  14.     approaches Bashir and extends his hand.
  15.  
  16.                     SLOAN
  17.             Doctor Bashir.
  18.  
  19.     Bashir shakes the offered hand. Sloan is all smiles 
  20.     and hospitality. He's sizing Bashir up as a suspect, 
  21.     but hides his real agenda behind an affable facade. 
  22.     Only later will we discover the real motivations behind 
  23.     his innocuous questions and remarks.
  24.  
  25.                     SLOAN 
  26.             Have a seat.
  27.  
  28.     Bashir seats himself in the indicated chair.
  29.  
  30.                     SLOAN 
  31.             I'm sorry you had to miss your
  32.             medical conference, but it 
  33.             couldn't be helped. In a case 
  34.             like this, I have to follow strict 
  35.             procedures.
  36.  
  37.     Bashir's surprised by Sloan's warm and casual manner 
  38.     and it throws him a little off balance.
  39.  
  40.                     BASHIR
  41.             Of course. I understand.
  42.  
  43.                     SLOAN
  44.                 (returns to his seat) 
  45.             Maybe it's a blessing in disguise.
  46.                 (a wry smile) 
  47.             The last time you tried to attend 
  48.             a medical conference you were 
  49.             taken prisoner by the Dominion.
  50.  
  51.                     BASHIR
  52.                 (nods) 
  53.             An experience I wouldn't care to 
  54.             repeat.
  55.  
  56.                     SLOAN 
  57.             I'm sure you wouldn't. Five weeks 
  58.             in a Dominion prison camp -- I 
  59.             can't imagine what it must've been 
  60.             like.
