  13.     CAMERA STARTS PULLING BACK.

  15.                     SISKO (V.O.) 
  16.             Captain's Log, Stardate 51474.2 
  17.             The Defiant has been ordered to 
  18.             investigate a rare subspace 
  19.             compression phenomenon recently 
  20.             discovered in Federation space.

  22.     REVEAL that we're on the edge of a vast energy vortex. 
  23.     AS CAMERA MOVES CLOSER to the swirling light, we can 
  24.     see a Runabout in the foreground, about to enter the 
  25.     anomaly.

  27.                     SISKO (V.O.) 
  28.             Three of my officers are taking a 
  29.             runabout into the anomaly's 
  30.             vortex.

  32.     A TRACTOR BEAM emerges from the Defiant and tethers the 
  33.     smaller ship with a band of energy.

  35. 2    INT. DEFIANT - BRIDGE

  37.     SISKO'S in the Captain's Chair. WORF tracks the 
  38.     runabout from the tactical station; beside him, NOG 
  39.     mans the science station. KIRA stands behind them, 
  40.     watching with interest. N.D. Starfleet supernumeraries 
  41.     fill out all but the second tactical position. Kira 
  42.     can barely suppress a smile as she looks on.

  45.             So... how small are they?

  48.                 (all business) 
  49.             The miniaturization process won't 
  50.             begin until the runabout reaches 
  51.             the edge of the accretion disk.
