  8.     Sisko is getting Kai Winn a cup of tea. Winn seems 
  9.     very thoughtful and a little concerned as Sisko 
  10.     delivers the tea and then sits down. There's a long 
  11.     quiet moment as Sisko waits for her to speak.

  13.                     KAI WINN
  14.             Weyoun has made a... startling 
  15.             proposal.
  16.                 (beat) 
  17.             The Dominion wishes to sign a non-
  18.             aggression treaty with Bajor.
  19.  
  20.     Sisko immediately sees the implications.
  21.  
  22.                     SISKO 
  23.             They're trying to split Bajor from 
  24.             the Federation.
  25.  
  26.                     KAI WINN 
  27.             Forgive me, Emissary, but you've 
  28.             already done that. It was your 
  29.             advice six months ago that kept 
  30.             Bajor out of the Federation. How 
  31.             did you put it? "Bajor must stand 
  32.             alone." Well, we are very much 
  33.             alone now.

  35.                     SISKO
  36.             Even though you're not a member of 
  37.             the Federation, Starfleet is 
  38.             committed to the protection of 
  39.             your world. We will not stand 
  40.             idly by and watch the Dominion 
  41.             conquer Bajor.

  43.                     KAI WINN 
  44.             Can you promise me that you will 
  45.             not let one Jem'Hadar soldier set 
  46.             foot on Bajor? Can you promise me 
  47.             that you will use the entire fleet 
  48.             to protect our planet even if it 
  49.             means sacrificing other worlds... 
  50.             like Vulcan or Andor or Berengaria 
  51.             or perhaps Earth itself?

  53.     Sisko can't go that far, but it kills him to admit it.
