  10.             take you to grow all those 
  11.             vegetables in the hydroponic 
  12.             garden? Every ingredient fresh... 
  13.             real.
  14.                 (a beat) 
  15.             Though you did put too much 
  16.             tarragon in the stuffing.

  18.                     SISKO 
  19.             I wasn't aware you were a food 
  20.             critic.

  22.                     EDDINGTON 
  23.             I wasn't. Until I joined the 
  24.             Maquis and started eating real 
  25.             food. Food that I'd grown with my 
  26.             own hands. Fresh corn. As sweet 
  27.             as a baby's smile. And tomatoes. 
  28.             Do you know how hard it is to grow 
  29.             tomatoes? There's always too much 
  30.             rain... or not enough. It's too 
  31.             hot, it's too cold.
  32.                 (a beat) 
  33.             I wonder what happened to those 
  34.             tomato plants.
  35.                 (bitter) 
  36.             Probably burned to the ground 
  37.             along with everything else.

  39.     Disgusted with the food, Eddington gets up and puts his 
  40.     tray in the replicator.

  42.                     SISKO 
  43.             If we don't stop those missiles, 
  44.             a lot of things are going to burn 
  45.             to the ground. And not just on 
  46.             Cardassia.

  48.                     EDDINGTON 
  49.             You never give up, do you, Ben? 
  50.             Here we are, having a pleasant 
  51.             conversation about food, and all 
  52.             you're thinking about is the 
  53.             mission. And how to get me to 
  54.             cooperate.
  55.                 (a beat) 
  56.             You're wasting your breath. As 
  57.             far as I'm concerned my life is 
  58.             over. I'm dead.
