  4. 31   EXT. TOWN SQUARE - NIGHT

  6.     where Worf and Kira are sitting near a FIREPIT. They 
  7.     both feel terrible about what's going to happen to the 
  8.     people around them tomorrow. The settlement is quiet. 
  9.     Though there are people around, their mood is somber.
  10.     News of their impending fate has spread, and they're 
  11.     talking quietly about it in small groups. Only the 
  12.     children are unconcerned, and Gabriel is playing with 
  13.     a few friends.

  15.                     KIRA
  16.                 (re: the children) 
  17.             Look at them. They have no idea 
  18.             what's going to happen.
  19.  
  20.                     WORF
  21.             It's for the best. They are 
  22.             children. They would not 
  23.             understand.
  24.  
  25.                     KIRA
  26.             I'm not sure I understand, 
  27.             either...
  28.  
  29.     Worf looks at her, wondering what she means...

  31.                     KIRA 
  32.             Eight thousand people, Worf... and 
  33.             they're all going to die because 
  34.             I have to go back to the station 
  35.             to be treated for some condition 
  36.             I can't even tell I have.

  38.                     WORF
  39.             That is not the only reason we are 
  40.             going back, major. Do not blame 
  41.             yourself.

  43.     Kira looks into the fire for a long beat, trying to 
  44.     accept this...

  46.                     KIRA
  47.             I'm going up to the ship.

  49.     Worf acknowledges with a nod... Kira moves off...

  53.     in one corner, talking to a group of friends near an 
  54.     ANTI-GRAV PLATFORM stacked with SEEDLINGS. She fingers 
  55.     a budding leaf, her features tinged with sadness.
  56.
