  7. 16   EXT. SPACE - BIRD OF PREY (OPTICAL)

  9.     The ship is cruising at maximum warp.
  10.  
  11. 17   INT. KLINGON MESS HALL
  12.  
  13.     The Mess Hall contains a single long table with chairs
  14.     on either side, encouraging the crew to sit and eat 
  15.     together. The bulkheads are covered with Klingon 
  16.     tapestries and artwork portraying the glorious history 
  17.     of the Empire -- but everything has an unkempt and 
  18.     dingy look to it (even for a Klingon ship). Bowls of 
  19.     (to us) unappetizing food are in the middle of the 
  20.     table, with utensils and plates present but clearly 
  21.     optional.
  22.  
  23.     At the moment, Kornan, Leskit, Tavana, a young Klingon 
  24.     male named ORTAKIN and two N.D.s are grouped around 
  25.     one end of the table, leaving more than half of the 
  26.     seating area empty. Tavana is just sitting down and 
  27.     the rest of them are eating with the sullen lack of 
  28.     enthusiasm that's a hallmark of this ship. Dax ENTERS 
  29.     and while everyone glances up at her, only Tavana nods 
  30.     a greeting. The rest return to their food.
  31.  
  32.     Dax takes only a moment to size up the situation and 
  33.     then she moves confidently to Ortakin, grabs him by the 
  34.     hair and YANKS him back off the chair where he crashes 
  35.     to the floor. Ortakin lets out a yell of anger, tries 
  36.     to roll to his feet, but Dax is faster and has her knee 
  37.     firmly planted on his throat, pinning him to the deck.

  39.                     DAX
  40.                 (to Ortakin) 
  41.             Maybe you didn't read the crew 
  42.             roster, but my name is Dax and I'm
  43.             the new science officer on this 
  44.             garbage scow. And you were in my 
  45.             seat.
  46.  
  47.     Ortakin struggles, but she's got him and the only thing 
  48.     he can do is let out a strangled grunt of frustration.
  49.  
  50.                     DAX
  51.                 (continuing) 
  52.             I'm glad we understand each other. 
  53.             Now get down to the other end 
  54.             where you belong.
