  14.     Chief O'BRIEN is pacing up and down the room. His 
  15.     infant son, KIRAYOSHI, is cradled between his neck and 
  16.     shoulder. The DOOR CHIMES.

  18.                     O'BRIEN 
  19.                 (softly) 
  20.             Come in.

  22.     JAKE ENTERS.

  24.                     JAKE 
  25.                 (loudly) 
  26.             Morning, Chief!

  28.                     O'BRIEN 
  29.             Quiet! You'll wake him. He just 
  30.             dropped off an hour ago.

  32.     Jake advances more cautiously, noticing O'Brien's red 
  33.     cracked eyes, matted hair and rumpled uniform.

  35.                     JAKE 
  36.             You look terrible.

  38.                     O'BRIEN 
  39.             Didn't get much sleep. He was up 
  40.             every hour or two. Every time I 
  41.             tried to put him back in his crib 
  42.             he started crying again. He 
  43.             misses his mother.

  46.             When will Professor O'Brien be 
  47.             back from Bajor?

  49.                     O'BRIEN 
  50.             I don't know, a week, maybe two - 
  51.             however long it takes to get that 
  52.             blight under control.
