  6.     Y'Pora is at the foot of the table, ready to deliver 
  7.     the baby. O'Brien and Shakaar take their places next 
  8.     to Keiko. Shakaar casts a glance O'Brien's way, tries 
  9.     to let go of his discomfort over his presence at the 
  10.     foot of the table.
  11.  
  12.                     Y'PORA
  13.             That's it, Nerys... relax -- let 
  14.             it come...
  15.  
  16.     As O'Brien and Shakaar watch the off-screen birth 
  17.     continue, we get the sense that neither man was quite 
  18.     prepared for what he's witnessing -- a beat as they 
  19.     exchange a glance, then they both gulp back a swallow.

  21. 38   THE CAMERA PANS

  23.     across the array of smiling faces as they watch the 
  24.     birth: from Shakaar to Keiko, then O'Brien...
  25.  
  26.     When the camera reaches Y'Pora, she smiles, and we hear 
  27.     the off-screen SOUND of a baby crying. She reaches 
  28.     down, and a beat later, lifts the --
  29.  
  30. 39   SQUIRMING INFANT

  32.     into FRAME...

  34.                     KEIKO
  35.                 (taking his arm)
  36.             Look at him, Miles...
  37.

  39.                     O'BRIEN
  40.             He's beautiful...
  41.  
  42.     Off the joyful faces of all gathered... even O'Brien 
  43.     and Shakaar share a smile.

  45. 40   INT. PROMENADE
  46.  
  47.     where Odo is pacing anxiously outside the Infirmary. 
  48.     It's morning now, and Supernumaries can be seen on the 
  49.     Promenade. After a moment, Bashir appears in the 
  50.     doorway. Odo looks at him, hoping against hope he has 
  51.     good news.

  53.                     ODO
  54.             Well... ?

  57.             There's nothing we can do. I'm
