  9.     Continuous from Act Four. Kira glares into the 
  10.     darkened room, looking vainly to see her captor.
  11.  
  12.                     KIRA 
  13.                 (defiant)
  14.             What's the matter, Silaran? Are 
  15.             you so afraid of a pregnant woman 
  16.             in a restraining field that you 
  17.             have to hide in the dark?
  18.  
  19.                     SILARAN'S VOICE
  20.             It bares its tiny fangs, hoping 
  21.             for a chance to strike, to sink 
  22.             its teeth deep into the flesh of 
  23.             its tormentor. But that chance 
  24.             will never come...
  25.  
  26.                     KIRA
  27.             You better hope I don't get the 
  28.             chance...
  29.  
  30.                     SILARAN'S VOICE
  31.             ... and somewhere behind the gleam 
  32.             of hatred in its eyes lurks the 
  33.             certain knowledge of its impending 
  34.             death. And it begins to know 
  35.             fear.
  36.  
  37.                     KIRA
  38.             I'm not afraid of you. I'm not 
  39.             some coward who's been sending 
  40.             anonymous messages and bombs to 
  41.             murder innocent people.
  42.  
  43.     Suddenly SILARAN steps into view -- he's a middle-aged 
  44.     Cardassian man who's been horribly disfigured. Half of 
  45.     his body, including his face, was severely injured in 
  46.     an explosion about ten years ago. Cardassian doctors
  47.     have done some reconstructive surgery, but his features 
  48.     are still grotesque and twisted. His right arm is 
  49.     still weak and he has a habit of touching each finger 
  50.     of his right hand as if making sure that he still has 
  51.     all five.

  53.     Once he steps into the light, he drops the "story" he's 
  54.     telling and addresses Kira directly.
