  2.       DEEP SPACE NINE: "... Nor the... " - REV. 08/21/96 - ACT TWO

  4. 25   INT. CAVERN - STAFF BUNK ROOM - LATER
  5.  
  6.     The LIGHTS are dim, everyone is asleep except Jake, 
  7.     who's reclined on one of the bunks, writing. (NOTE: 
  8.     He's no longer in scrubs. The blood that was on his 
  9.     civilian shirt has been cleaned off.) The camera PUSHES 
  10.     slowly toward him as he writes...
  11.  
  12.                     JAKE (V.O.) 
  13.                 (continuing) 
  14.             -- He didn't seem that worried, no 
  15.             one else seems to be losing sleep 
  16.             over it, so why's it the only 
  17.             thing I can think about? I've 
  18.             been on the station when it was 
  19.             under attack plenty of times... 
  20.             but somehow the danger never
  21.             seemed as real as it does here.
  22.  
  23.     We can hear in Jake's voice that he's genuinely rattled 
  24.     by this and doesn't understand why.
  25.  
  26.                     JAKE (V.O.) 
  27.             Maybe it's because I spent all day 
  28.             seeing firsthand what the 
  29.             Klingons are capable of... or 
  30.             maybe it's because for the first 
  31.             time in my life, my father's not 
  32.             here to protect me.
  33.  
  34.     Suddenly we hear the SOUND of a distant but massive 
  35.     EXPLOSION -- Jake is startled and some of the others 
  36.     jolt awake.
  37.  
  38.                     NURSE 
  39.             What was that?
  40.  
  41.     The power fails and the LIGHTS go out. A beat later, 
  42.     AMBER EMERGENCY LIGHTS flicker on, accompanied by a 
  43.     warning ALARM.
  44.  
  45.                     BOLIAN 
  46.                 (grim) 
  47.             The Klingons -- they must've taken 
  48.             out the reactor...
  49.  
  50.     Everyone springs out of bed and starts for the door... 
  51.     Jake follows, his dread about what this all portends 
  52.     mounting...
  53.  
  54. 26   INT. CAVERN - MAIN WARD
  55.  
  56.     as Jake ENTERS behind the others. Bashir is already 
  57.     there with some of the other medical personnel, 
  58.     moving between patients.
