  15.             happened to me my first day.

  17.     Kirby remembers something --

  22.             That ship Starfleet sent, the 
  23.             Farragut? The Klingons 
  24.             intercepted it.

  27.             Starfleet'll send another one, 
  28.             won't they?

  30.                     KIRBY 
  31.             It won't get here for days. In 
  32.             the meantime we're looking at a 
  33.             ground war, which is just what the 
  34.             Klingons want. According to a 
  35.             lieutenant I talked to, they've 
  36.             got so many transport scramblers 
  37.             on-line we can't beam troops 
  38.             anywhere.

  40.                     JAKE 
  41.             What about using hoppers?

  43.                     KIRBY 
  44.             He said the Klingons have been 
  45.             shooting them out of the sky left 
  46.             and right. Unless something 
  47.             changes, he figures the 
  48.             Klingons'll capture the settlement 
  49.             the day after tomorrow.

  51.     Kirby doesn't come off overtly frightened by this. In 
  52.     fact, by telling Jake what he knows, he's venting some 
  53.     of his own anxiety and comes off a bit breathless, 
  54.     almost excited by it all.
