  6.     A distinguished-looking man of about forty ENTERS from 
  7.     the door through which Norva was taken. He wears a 
  8.     "wallet" full of vials at his side, and is just closing 
  9.     it up when he enters. It's TREVEAN, and as soon as the
  10.     male PATIENT (red welts) at the nearest table sees him 
  11.     he calls out to him.
  12.  
  13.                     PATIENT 
  14.             Trevean...
  15.  
  16.     Our people react as they realize this is the man Norva 
  17.     asked to see.
  18.  
  19.     Trevean turns at the sound of his name -- it's clear 
  20.     from the faces of everyone in the room that he is a 
  21.     respected, almost revered figure. The patient, who is 
  22.     not in any way debilitated by his condition, raises a 
  23.     goblet to toast him.
  24.  
  25.                     PATIENT 
  26.             Thank you...
  27.                 (motioning around him)
  28.             For this.

  30.                     TREVEAN
  31.             You deserve nothing less...
  32.  
  33.     He says this with a simple kindness that speaks to a 
  34.     genuine generosity of spirit.
  35.  
  36.                     PATIENT
  37.                 (to all)
  38.             Yesterday morning when I awoke, I 
  39.             saw that it had finally 
  40.             happened... I'd quickened. I 
  41.             always thought I'd be afraid...
  42.                 (smiles)
  43.             But I wasn't. Because I knew I 
  44.             could come here.
  45.                 (with emotion)
  46.             Last night I slept in a bed for 
  47.             the first time in my life.

  49.                 indicating the phonograph)
  50.             I fell asleep listening to music.

  52.     There is an almost audible sigh from the gathered 
  53.     group, as if they can scarcely imagine the luxury.

  56.                     PATIENT 
  57.             This morning I bathed in hot 
  58.             water... I put on clean clothes.

  60.             And now I'm here, with my family
