  14.             better than an animal.

  16.     This is the core of self-doubt and self-hatred that's
  17.     driving O'Brien to suicide and Bashir knows it.

  19.                     BASHIR
  20.             No. An animal would've killed
  21.             Ee'char and never had a second
  22.             thought, never shed a tear. But
  23.             not you. You hate yourself for
  24.             it. Hate yourself so much you
  25.             think you deserve to die. And
  26.             that's what makes you human.
  27.                 (steps closer)
  28.             The Argrathi did everything they
  29.             could to strip away your humanity.
  30.             And in the end, for one brief
  31.             moment, they succeeded. But you
  32.             shouldn't let that one moment
  33.             define your entire life. Because
  34.             if you do, if you pull that
  35.             trigger, the Argrathi will have
  36.             won. They'll have destroyed a
  37.             good man. And you can't let that
  38.             happen.

  40.     Bashir waits a beat for his words to sink in. O'Brien
  41.     finally relaxes and Bashir gently takes the phaser
  42.     away. As he surrenders the phaser, O'Brien looks up at
  43.     Ee'char.
