  6.     As Ee'char picks out a relatively flat, sandy spot in
  7.     the cave so he can show O'Brien what he means.

  9.                     EE'CHAR
  10.             Here. This is a good spot.

  12.     O'Brien sits by the spot Ee'char's indicated, then
  13.     Ee'char goes to find his own drawing surface.
  14.  
  15.                     EE'CHAR
  16.                 (demonstrating)
  17.             You start by drawing a circle.
  18.  
  19.     Copying Ee'char, O'Brien draws his own circle in the
  20.     sand.
  21.  
  22.                     EE'CHAR
  23.             Now gaze into the circle.
  24.  
  25.     O'Brien looks at Ee'char skeptically.
  26.  
  27.                     EE'CHAR
  28.             Do you want to learn or not?
  29.  
  30.     O'Brien turns his attention to the ground.

  32.                     O'BRIEN
  33.             I'm gazing.
  34.  
  35.                     EE'CHAR
  36.                 (picking up where he
  37.                 left off)
  38.             Relax your mind. Imagine that the
  39.             circle encompasses your entire
  40.             existence. Let it become part of
  41.             you.
  42.                 (waits a beat, then... )
  43.             Now without thinking about it,
  44.             allow your hand to make a mark
  45.             inside the circle. Expand on the
  46.             mark. Let it grow organically
  47.             until it becomes a pattern.

  49.     O'Brien draws a few slashes in the sand, but nothing
  50.     very artistic. He looks so serious, so un-relaxed,
  51.     that Ee'char can't help but laugh.

  53.                     O'BRIEN
  54.             What's so funny?
  55.  
  56.                     EE'CHAR
  57.             You look like a reeta-hawk picking
  58.             at a corpse.
  59.  
  60.     Ee'char hunches over, imitating O'Brien, tensing his
  61.     shoulders and neck. Then he breaks into a bird
  62.     imitation.
