  12.     This is an alien security cell, with rough-hewn stone
  13.     walls and a smooth sandy floor. There are no beds or
  14.     other furniture, just a heavy metallic windowless door
  15.     of alien design. The light in the room is an odd blue-
  16.     white, colored to match an alien sun. There's a hole
  17.     dug in the ground in one corner of the room that
  18.     provides a crude toilet.
  19.  
  20.     The room's only inhabitant is a male PRISONER in his
  21.     mid- to late-fifties, with an unkempt beard and a
  22.     tangled mass of white hair. We don't get a good look
  23.     at his face, but he seems familiar. He's dressed in
  24.     the ragged remains of a gold Starfleet uniform, but
  25.     it's barely recognizable from decades of wear and
  26.     neglect.
  27.  
  28.     The Prisoner is squatting on the floor, drawing an
  29.     elaborate mandala in the sand. It's a beautiful
  30.     abstract pattern and he works on it with great care.
  31.  
  32.     The Prisoner puts a finishing touch on the mandala as
  33.     if rushing to beat some kind of deadline. Just as he
  34.     finishes, a KLAXON SOUNDS, followed by an announcement
  35.     from a disembodied voice.
  36.  
  37.                     ARGRATHI COM VOICE
  38.             All offenders prepare for
  39.             decontamination. Decontamination
  40.             will proceed immediately.

  42.     The Prisoner braces himself.
  43.  
  44. 2    NEW ANGLE (OPTICAL)
  45.  
  46.     A wall of coherent light passes through the room,
  47.     sweeping everything inside, including the Prisoner and
  48.     his sand-drawings. As it passes over the Prisoner, he
  49.     doubles over, gritting his teeth and choking back a
  50.     moan of pain. The beam obviously causes him great
  51.     agony.
  52.  
  53.     It also completely erases the mandala, smoothing the
  54.     sand as it progresses across the room.
