  2.       DEEP SPACE NINE: "Rules of... " - REV. 1/26/96 - ACT FOUR      43.
  3.
  4. 62   CONTINUED:
  5.
  6.                     WORF
  7.             I respect the Chief's opinion. We
  8.             have served together for many
  9.             years. He's an outstanding
  10.             officer... and a friend. However,
  11.             he was not in command that day.
  12.
  13.                     SISKO
  14.             What difference does that make?
  15.
  16.                     WORF
  17.             It makes all the difference. He
  18.             is looking back at a decision...
  19.             analyzing it weeks later. As the
  20.             commanding officer of the Defiant,
  21.             it was my duty to look forward...
  22.             to anticipate every possible
  23.             situation.
  24.
  25.                     SISKO
  26.             Did you anticipate encountering a
  27.             civilian ship on this mission?
  28.
  29.                     WORF
  30.             I knew that our convoy would be
  31.             passing through civilian shipping
  32.             lanes. But, in my judgement, the
  33.             chances of a civilian vessel
  34.             decloaking in the middle of a
  35.             battle were... remote. I decided
  36.             that if we were engaged in
  37.             combat... I would not hesitate to
  38.             fire at a decloaking ship.
  39.
  40.                     SISKO
  41.             Mister Worf, I want you to think
  42.             about the civilians who died on
  43.             that transport ship... and answer
  44.             one question.
  45.                 (beat)
  46.             Given the same set of
  47.             circumstances, would you do it
  48.             again?
  49.
  50.                     WORF
  51.             Yes, sir. If I had hesitated, I
  52.             would have been negligent. I
  53.             would have been risking my ship,
  54.             my crew and the entire convoy.
  55.
  56.                     SISKO
  57.             Thank you.
  58.
