  7.             At each one of these points, I
  8.             have hidden a new form of laser...
  9.             one that can penetrate the Earth's
  10.             rust... down into the mantle
  11.             itself.

  13.                     BASHIR
  14.             The global earthquakes...

  16.                     SISKO
  17.             Those were only tests. Soon I
  18.             will activate all the lasers
  19.             together, and when I do they will
  20.             produce worldwide earthquakes the
  21.             likes of which have never been
  22.             felt before.

  24.                     GARAK
  25.             Killing everyone on the planet.

  28.             More than that... there comes a
  29.             time when a house has been so
  30.             damaged by termites that you must
  31.             not only kill the termites... but
  32.             demolish the house... and build
  33.             again.

  35.             The quakes are only a minor side
  36.             effect. The real goal is for the
  37.             lasers to produce massive fissures
  38.             in the Earth's crust... releasing
  39.             millions of tons of molten lava.

  41.             So, Mister Merriweather, you're
  42.             the geologist. What happens next?

  45.             Once that much lava is released...
  46.             the tectonic plates will begin
  47.             to... settle.

  50.             And the surface of the planet will
  51.             shrink... just like letting air
  52.             out of a balloon.

  55.             But if the surface of the Earth
  56.             shrinks... the oceans...
