  4. 35   CONTINUED:

  6.     Bashir stares into the blinding jet of gas escaping 
  7.     through the opening in the bulkhead... he knows he has 
  8.     no choice, he has to shut it.
  9.  
  10.     He reaches up to touch the control panel... but as the 
  11.     door starts to close, he unexpectedly steps through the 
  12.     opening and into the oncoming gas before it shuts 
  13.     behind him. Off the Nurse and N.D.s as they realize 
  14.     what he's done...
  15.  
  16. 36   INT. DEFIANT - TURBOLIFT 
  17.  
  18.     Through the partly open door we can see the gas roaring 
  19.     down the corridor.  Out of the roiling cloud a figure  
  20.     emerges... it's Bashir, dragging Dax's limp form behind  
  21.     him...
  22.  
  23.     As soon as they're both inside, he manually JACKS the  
  24.     door shut, muffling the roar outside in the corridor.  
  25.     Coughing and struggling to retain his breath, Bashir  
  26.     reaches to touch a control panel.
  27.  
  28.     We hear a HISSING sound, and the compartment begins to  
  29.     clear as it's repressurized.
  30.  
  31.     Bashir looks down at Dax's limp body, opens his Medkit,  
  32.     and gives her a HYPO. After a beat, she coughs to  
  33.     life, struggles to regain her breath.
  34.  
  35.     Bashir slumps back against the wall, relief washing  
  36.     over him...
  37.  
  38.                     BASHIR  
  39.             Bridge.
  40.  
  41.     Nothing happens... he tries to work the panel, but gets  
  42.     no response. They're trapped. Off Bashir's face as he  
  43.     reacts to this unexpected development...
  44.  
  45. 37   INT. DEFIANT - BRIDGE
  46.  
  47.     We hear the SOUND of power coming on-line... the LIGHTS  
  48.     come back up.
  49.  
  50.                     KIRA
  51.                 (quiet) 
  52.             She did it.
  53.  
  54.     Sisko acknowledges with a small nod.
  55.  
  56.                     SISKO
  57.                 (to Carson) 
  58.             Helm, take us to a higher 
  59.             altitude.
