  6.     Bashir stands along with the rest of the senior staff and 
  7.     watches the Viewscreen.  It's the announcement of the 
  8.     Carrington award, presided over by a MEDICAL BIG SHOT.
  9.  
  10.                     MEDICAL BIG SHOT
  11.             And now, it is with great pride, 
  12.             that I present the nominees for this 
  13.             year's Carrington Award.  They are: 
  14.             Doctor April Wade, Senva of Vulcan, 
  15.             Doctor Henri Roget, Chirurgeon Ghee 
  16.             P'Trell, and Doctor Julian Bashir.
  17.  
  18.     The senior staff applaud and grin at Bashir.  Bashir tries 
  19.     to nod nonchalantly, but his eyes are frozen on the 
  20.     viewscreen.
  21.  
  22.                     MEDICAL BIG SHOT
  23.             And the winner is...
  24.  
  25.     On the screen, the BIG SHOT checks a PADD.  When he sees the 
  26.     name, he looks startled.  Everyone in the Wardroom catches 
  27.     this and looks at Bashir.

  29.                     MEDICAL BIG SHOT
  30.                 (very surprised)
  31.             And the winner is Doctor Henri Roget.
  32.  
  33.     The staff immediately deflates.
  34.  
  35.                     SISKO
  36.             Roget?
  37.  
  38.                     O'BRIEN
  39.             How could they give it to Roget?
  40.  
  41.     Everyone gathers around Bashir to offer their condolences, 
  42.     but he seems unfazed.

  44.                     KIRA
  45.             Better luck next time.
  46.  
  47.                     BASHIR
  48.             Maybe in forty or fifty years.
  49.  
  50.     Dax comes up and puts her hand on his shoulder.

  52.                     DAX
  53.                 (whispers)
  54.             You seem to be handling this very 
  55.             well.
