  8.     On a cup with water... a needle sticking up from the center 
  9.     and a piece of tree bark pivoting on the top of the water.  
  10.     He places a sliver of the rock on the bark... it begins to 
  11.     quiver as it picks up the duonetic field source.  We hear 
  12.     the sound of running water in the background.

  14. 51   WIDER
  15.  
  16.     O'Brien examines the cup... follows the direction it indicates 
  17.     and disappears into the woods.

  19.                                     TIME CUT:

  21. 52   EXT. FOREST - DAY

  23.     O'Brien has reached a small clearing in the forest.  He looks 
  24.     at his compass --
  25.  
  26. 52A  INSERT - CLOSE ON THE CUP

  28.     The needle is quivering as he gets closer to the source.

  32.     continues to move... more carefully now...

  36.     The needle is going berserk -- spinning wildly.

  40.     reacts, drops to his knees and begins digging.  The soft 
  41.     soil is displaced easily.  Before long, he finds what he's 
  42.     been looking for --

  44. 55   CLOSE ON

  46.     a black metal box suggesting huge underground adjuncts... a 
  47.     panel shows high-tech electronics... and assorted working 
  48.     indicators.
