  4. 7    EXT. COMPOUND - DAY
  5.  
  6.     Joseph, Sisko, and O'Brien make their way into the compound... 
  7.     it is a formidable sight... a Federation ship has been 
  8.     converted into a shelter, creating a huge backdrop... a rough- 
  9.     hewn town square has been cleared in front of the ship... it 
  10.     is bordered on one side by the beginnings of a farmers' 
  11.     field... with corn and other vegetables growing... people 
  12.     are harvesting the fields... in the square, they grind corn 
  13.     into flour... a carpenter fixes a tool...
  14.  
  15.     One by one, the colonists notice Sisko and O'Brien -- the 
  16.     first strangers they've seen in a decade -- and react with 
  17.     surprise, awe, and friendly smiles.  No fear.  A few stop 
  18.     what they're doing and timidly approach the newcomers.  One 
  19.     of them is an attractive woman, (CASSANDRA) about 30.

  21. 8    ON O'BRIEN AND SISKO

  23.     eyeing the ship.

  25.                     SISKO
  26.             Erewon-class personnel transport...
  27.  
  28.                     JOSEPH
  29.             Commissioned the "Santa Maria."  
  30.             Now, we just call it "the cabin."
  31.  
  32.     ALIXUS ENTERS, from the ship, Vinod at her side.  Alixus is 
  33.     a handsome, happy-eyed, smiling, glowingly charismatic woman, 
  34.     about fifty.  Her smile broadens into a wide, infectious 
  35.     grin.

  37.                     ALIXUS
  38.             After all this time... visitors!  
  39.             Welcome to our community.  Are there 
  40.             others?
  41.  
  42.                     SISKO
  43.             Just an empty runabout in orbit.  
  44.             Hopefully, it'll attract some 
  45.             attention.

  47.                     JOSEPH
  48.                 (hungry for news)
  49.             "Runabout."  Is that some kind of 
  50.             new Starfleet vessel?
