DEEP SPACE: "The Forsaken" - REV. 3/12/93 - ACT FIVE 48.
47 CONTINUED:
O'Brien is working furiously on his panels but getting
nowhere... he shakes his head, frustrated... he looks at
Dax, failure in his eyes...
O'BRIEN
It's not paying any attention to me.
DAX
I guess it just doesn't want to leave.
Like a scared puppy.
O'Brien studies the console, searching his mind for answers...
verbalizing the thinking process --
O'BRIEN
We have no idea how long that probe
was tumbling through space... maybe
years... with that lifeform alone on
board. It's sort of like shutting
the puppy up in a room, you know? I
had a pup once. If I had to lock
him up, he'd scratch forever at the
door, trying to get out...
DAX
I'm not sure I know what you're
getting at...
O'BRIEN
(suddenly so obvious)
Pups don't like to be left alone.
They like attention.
