  9.             Major Kira Nerys and Doctor Julian 
  10.             Bashir.

  12.     Shel-la turns toward Bashir and laughs a grim laugh.
  13.  
  14.                     SHEL-LA
  15.             A doctor?  How... ironic.
  16.                 (faces Sisko)
  17.             I'm Golin Shel-la, leader of the 
  18.             Ennis.  Why are you here?
  19.  
  20.                     SISKO
  21.             We were attacked by one of your 
  22.             satellites.  Our ship was damaged 
  23.             and we crashed.
  24.  
  25.                     SHEL-LA
  26.                 (impatient)
  27.             Of course -- but why did you come 
  28.             here?
  29.  
  30.                     SISKO
  31.             We were exploring.  We've recently 
  32.             discovered a permanent wormhole 
  33.             linking our quadrant of the galaxy 
  34.             to yours.  I command a space station 
  35.             at the mouth of that wormhole.
  36.  
  37.                     SHEL-LA
  38.             So you know nothing of our home 
  39.             planet... or the punishment?
  40.  
  41.                     SISKO
  42.             We're just beginning to explore this 
  43.             sector.  As I said, our home is on 
  44.             the other side of the galaxy.
  45.  
  46.     Shel-la is relieved.  He resumes his position by the fire 
  47.     and studies the phaser.  Kira stifles a cry of pain and falls 
  48.     to her knees, clutching her shoulder.  Bashir helps her onto 
  49.     a bench.

  52.             I'm all right --
