  9.             But we saw Lieutenant Dax become 
  10.             aphasic before our eyes.  That told 
  11.             me we were dealing with a disease 
  12.             that only mimics aphasia.  So I ran 
  13.             a full neuro-synaptic comparison of 
  14.             Dax and O'Brien.
  15.                 (pointing to monitor)
  16.             And found this in the temporal lobes 
  17.             of both patients.

  24.             It imposes itself within established 
  25.             synaptic pathways and then randomly 
  26.             reroutes them.  For example, when I 
  27.             look at this...
  28.                 (picks up tricorder)
  29.             ... a process occurs in my brain which 
  30.             connects this stimulus to the word 
  31.             "tricorder."  The virus disrupts 
  32.             that process.

  35.             I'd see the tricorder but I would 
  36.             say something ridiculous like...

  42.     Suddenly we HEAR a BABBLE OF VOICES from behind them.

  46.     Sisko and Bashir turn to see NURSE JABARA and two STARFLEET 
  47.     CREWMEMBERS at the doorway.

  50.             Doctor, I think you better get over 
  51.             here.

  53.     Sisko and Bashir walk over and are immediately confronted by 
  54.     the crewmembers, both talking at once... and making no sense 
  55.     at all.
