CONVERTING DATADISC PLUS FILENAMES ON THE CD
--------------------------------------------
TO THE DATADISC FORMAT e.g. filename_1 etc.
-------------------------------------------
!NewNames is a SSERC CD file name utility
⌐ Design Concept 1993 (phone 031 668 2000)
Information
-----------
This application exists to bypass the limit-
ations of the method by which the CD-ROM disc
filing system is created. Certain characters
in file names are not allowed, particularly
those with underscore (_) in them. This is a
hassle which makes filenames less informative,
but is a real pig where Datadisc Plus files
are concerned. They need to have underscore to
distinguish between different channels of data
and the information file e.g. :
filename_1 = channel 1 data
filename_2 = channel 2 data
filename_3 = channel 3 data
filename_4 = channel 4 data
filename_I = information on data recorded
Datadisc Plus data is held on the CD as :
filename11 = channel 1 data
filename22 = channel 2 data
filename33 = channel 3 data
filename44 = channel 4 data
filenameII = information on data recorded
!NewNames will convert from the form above to
that shown on page 3. Double click SELECT on
the !NewNames application to instal it on the
icon bar. Drag the DPLUSDATA directory to a
hard or floppy disc then drag it to the
Newnames icon on the icon bar. All the file-
names will be converted to normal.
