  1. CONVERTING DATADISC PLUS FILENAMES ON THE CD

  6. !NewNames is a SSERC CD file name utility
  7.

  9. Information
  10. -----------
  11. This application exists to bypass the limit-
  12. ations of the method by which the CD-ROM disc
  13. filing system is created. Certain characters
  14. in file names are not allowed, particularly 
  15. those with underscore (_) in them. This is a
  16. hassle which makes filenames less informative,
  17. but is a real pig where Datadisc Plus files
  18. are concerned. They need to have underscore to
  19. distinguish between different channels of data
  20. and the information file e.g. :

  22. filename_1 = channel 1 data
  23. filename_2 = channel 2 data
  24. filename_3 = channel 3 data
  25. filename_4 = channel 4 data
  26. filename_I = information on data recorded
  27.

  29. Datadisc Plus data is held on the CD as :
  30.  
  31. filename11 = channel 1 data
  32. filename22 = channel 2 data
  33. filename33 = channel 3 data
  34. filename44 = channel 4 data
  35. filenameII = information on data recorded

  39. !NewNames will convert from the form above to 
  40. that shown on page 3. Double click SELECT on
  41. the !NewNames application to instal it on the
  42. icon bar. Drag the DPLUSDATA directory to a
  43. hard or floppy disc then drag it to the 
  44. Newnames icon on the icon bar. All the file-
  45. names will be converted to normal.

  51. Now you can transfer the adapted DPLUSDATA
  52. directory into your !Datadisc+ application
  53. then reconfigure the software for current 
  54. data directory as "$.!Datadisc+.DPLUSDATA"

  57. cation by pressing the SHIFT key whilst
  58. double clicking SELECT on it.
