- NOTE ** This specification is designed to accompany a
- drawing showing the size, arrangement, and internal
- fittings of each mailroom unit. The basic units
- are "consoles" (base units) with legs, which can
- have shelves, doors, or drawers; and "sort
- modules", which mount on top of consoles, on
- platforms, or are freestanding. Sort modules
- include removable shelves that are either 10-3/4 or
- 12-3/4 inches wide, in overall widths that fit the
- consoles.

- NOTE ** See the manufacturer's "Specifications Guide" for
- unit sizes and options. For construction
- documents, the layout drawing does not need to
- include exact model numbers, but should show sizes
- and options that are available. The contractor or
- furnishings installer will be responsible for
- identifying all model numbers for ordering
- purposes.

- B. Consoles: Extruded aluminum frame and legs, assembled
- with machine screws, designed to enclose all edges of
- panels; top front edge contoured, enclosing edge of work
- surface.
- 1. Leg, Back, and Filler Panels: 5/8 inch (16 mm) thick
- particleboard, faced on both sides with plastic
- laminate.
- 2. Work Surfaces: 11/16 inch (17.5 mm) thick
- particleboard, backed with 0.027 inch (0.7 mm)
- phenolic backer.
- NOTE ** Delete all but one of the following four work
- surface descriptions. Plastic laminate is
- standard, the other finishes cost more. If more
- than one finish is required, edit the text to
- indicate where each is to be used.
- 3. Work Surface Finish: Mar- and stain-resistant high
- pressure plastic laminate.
- 4. Work Surface Finish: Impact-resistant styrene.
- 5. Work Surface Finish: Impact-resistant ABS plastic.
- 6. Work Surface Finish: Stainless steel.

- inch thick vertical ends and 5/8 inch (16 mm) thick top,
- bottom, and interior partitions; concealed fasteners;
- locking to console frame.

- shelves with full width aluminum indexing support
- channel front and back, tested to hold minimum of 30
- pounds (13.6 kg); manufacturer's standard quantity

- plastic cover, holding paper index strips.
- NOTE ** Integral platforms raise the sorting shelves above
