  121. 2.2 SLIDE GATES AND GUIDES
  122. NOTE ** In addition to the slide gates specified below,
  123.         downward acting gates (weir gates), as well as
  124.         custom-designed gates, are also available.  Consult
  125.         with the manufacturer for specifications.

  127.     A.  Slide Gates:  Fiberglass reinforced polyester resin with
  128.         resin-rich surface, ribbed as necessary to withstand
  129.         maximum water heads to be encountered, using molded-in
  130.         structural members.  Bolted or bonded ribs will not be
  131.         acceptable.
  132.         1.  Gates up to 24 inches wide by 36 inches high:  1/4
  133.             inch thick, minimum.
  134.         2.  Gates between 24 and 72 inches wide and between 36
  135.             and 96 inches high:  3/8 inch thick, minimum.
  136. NOTE ** Delete 1 of the 2 following paragraphs.
  137.         3.  Color:  White.
  138.         4.  Color:  Turquoise.

  140.     B.  Guide Frames:  Pultruded fiberglass reinforced polyester
  141.         resin with resin-rich surface.
  142.         1.  One-piece molded construction, with mitered corners
  143.             adequately bonded and laminated together.

  146.         2.  Type:  Recessed (embedded).

  157.         1.  Tensile strength (ASTM D 638):  14,000 psi.
  158.         2.  Flexural strength (ASTM D 790):  25,000 psi
  159.         3.  Flexural modulus (ASTM D 790):  1,000,000 psi.

  216. PART 3  EXECUTION
  217.  
  218. 3.1 EXAMINATION
  219.  
  220.     A.  Verify that dimensions are correct and project conditions
  221.         are suitable for installation.  Do not proceed with
  222.         installation until unsatisfactory conditions have been
  223.         corrected.
  224.  
  225. 3.2 INSTALLATION
  226.  
  227.     A.  Install products in accordance with manufacturer's
  228.         instructions.
  229.  
  230.     B.  Ensure that products are installed plumb and true, free
  231.         of warp or twist, within tolerances specified by the
  232.         manufacturer and as indicated in the contract documents.
  233. NOTE ** Indicate guide frame mounting type on the drawings.
  234.  
  235.     C.  Surface and Flange Mounted Guides:  Install guides with
  236.         expansion anchors of type specified.  Position guides at
  237.         the required elevation, plumb and true, free of twist or
  238.         warp.
  239.  
  240.     D.  Recessed Guides:  Box out slot in concrete to receive
  241.         guides.  Position guides at the required elevation, plumb
  242.         and true, free of twist or warp.  Grout guides in place
  243.         in accordance with manufacturer's instructions.
  244.  
  245.     E.  Gates:  Install gates in accordance with manufacturer's
  246.         instructions.  Adjust to provide smooth operation.

  248. 3.3 ADJUST AND CLEAN
  249.  
  250.     A.  Clean surfaces in accordance with manufacturer's
  251.         instructions.

  253.     B.  Remove trash and debris, and leave the site in a clean
  254.         condition.
