  8.         prefinished gypsum panels.  Completed partition
  9.         system is 3-1/2 inches (89 mm) or 3-3/4 inches (95
  10.         mm) thick, depending on gypsum board selected.

  67. 1.4 SYSTEM DESCRIPTION
  68. NOTE ** STC rating of 35 to 49 can be obtained for
  69.         manufacturer's system by selecting the appropriate
  70.         panel and installing sound insulation in the cavity
  71.         where required.  Contact the manufacturer for
  72.         specific requirements.

  132.         1.  Top Track:  Roll-formed steel, hemmed legs designed
  133.             to accept snap-on/snap-off PVC ceiling trim from
  134.             either side of partition.
  135.         2.  Floor Track:  Roll-formed steel, 1-1/2 inch (38 mm)
  136.             high legs.
  137.         3.  Stud Framing:  "U"-shaped studs with 11 inch (280 mm)
  138.             cross-locking channels, and roll-formed standard
  139.             studs.

  141.     B.  Panels:
  142. NOTE ** This Gravity Lock Systems Inc. demountable gypsum
  143.         board partitions accommodate a variety of 1/2 inch
  144.         (12 mm) or 5/8 inch (16 mm) thick gypsum panels.
  145.         This allows different type panels to be installed
  146.         adjacent to each other or on opposite sides of a
  147.         partition.

  195. PART 3  EXECUTION

  197. 3.1 EXAMINATION
  198.  
  199.     A.  Verify that floors and ceilings are level and ready to
  200.         accept partitions.
  201.  
  202.     B.  Verify that facility is clean, dry, and protected from
  203.         outside weather.
  204.  
  205. 3.2 INSTALLATION
  206.  
  207.     A.  Comply with manufacturer's printed instructions, except
  208.         where more stringent requirements are mandated by
  209.         governing authorities, and except where project
  210.         conditions require extra precautions or provisions.
  211.  
  212.     B.  Erect partitions plumb and square, accurately fitting to
  213.         suspended ceilings and over floor coverings; adjust to
  214.         correct for floor irregularities.
  215. NOTE ** Edit paragraphs below to conform to project
  216.         conditions.
  217.  
  218.     C.  Carpeted Floors:  Use fasteners that rigidly secure
  219.         partitions without damaging or defacing carpeting.
  220.  
  221.     D.  Suspended Ceilings:  Use fasteners that rigidly secure
  222.         partitions without damaging or defacing grid or ceiling.

  224.     E.  Mechanically fasten floor track to substrate at both
  225.         sides of door frames, finished ends, and other areas
  226.         where additional rigidity is required.

  228.     F.  Position studs vertically in floor and ceiling tracks at
  229.         frequency required by panel size; install three cross
  230.         channels per stud in accordance with manufacturer's
  231.         instructions.

  233.     G.  Install panel clips in accordance with manufacturer's
  234.         instructions; install panels on framework, taking care to
  235.         seat all panel clips on cross channels.
  236.  
  237.     H.  Butt panels to ensure tight, single line joints.
  238.  
  239.     I.  Neatly cut and fit panels to existing walls, window
  240.         mullions, building columns, and other appurtenances.
  241.  
  242.     J.  Install ceiling trim, base molding, corners, and other
  243.         trim in accordance with manufacturer's instructions.

  245. 3.3 CLEANING AND ADJUSTING
  246.  
  247.     A.  Upon completion of installation, clean all surfaces that
  248.         have become soiled during installation.
