  46. 1.4 SYSTEM DESCRIPTION
  47. NOTE ** Use this article only if performance requirements
  48.         for the entire roof system are necessary.

  50.     A.  Design Requirements:
  51.         1.  Vertical loads:  Roof panel system to withstand loads
  52.             imposed by roof panel system, and live loading of __
  53.             pounds per square foot (___ kg/sq m), uniformly
  54.             distributed.
  55.         2.  Snow loads:  Roof panel system to withstand snow
  56.             loads in accordance with requirements of local
  57.             authorities having jurisdiction; imposed snow load is
  58.             to be added to specified vertical loads when
  59.             designing roof panel system.
  60. NOTE ** Insert wind uplift resistance requirements in the
  61.         following sub-paragraph. Verify the actual
  62.         performance of the available products with the
  63.         manufacturer.
  64.         3.  Wind uplift:  Roofing panel system, including panels,
  65.             clips, and fasteners to resist wind uplift of ____

  111.             and compliance of roof panel system to specified wind
  112.             uplift requirements.
  113.         3.  Certificates:
  114.             a.  Contractor's certification that:
  115.                 1)  Manufacturer of roof panel system meets
  116.                     specified qualifications.
  117.                 2)  Installer of roof panel system meets
  118.                     specified qualifications.
  119.             b.  Manufacturer's certification that installer is
  120.                 approved.
  121.         4.  Manufacturer's instructions:  Printed installation
  122.             instructions for each roof panel system component,
  123.             including product storage requirements.

  125.     G.  Closeout Submittals:  Warranty documents specified in
  126.         WARRANTY Article of PART 1 of this section.

  128. 1.6 QUALITY ASSURANCE
  129.  
  130.     A.  Qualifications:
  131.         1.  Manufacturer:  Minimum three (3) years documented
  132.             experience producing roof panel systems similar to
  133.             that specified in this section.
  134.         2.  Installer:  Minimum three (3) years documented
  135.             experience installing roof panel systems similar to
  136.             that specified in this section.
  137. NOTE ** Delete the following paragraph if not required.
  138.  
  139.     B.  Pre-Installation Meetings:
  140.         1.  Convene at job site seven (7) calendar days prior to
  141.             scheduled beginning of construction activities of
  142.             this section to review requirements of this section.
  143.         2.  Require attendance by representatives of the
  144.             following:
  145.             a.  Installer of this section.
  146.             b.  Other entities directly affecting, or affected
  147.                 by, construction activities of this section.
  148.         3.  Notify Architect four (4) calendar days in advance of
  149.             scheduled meeting date.

  151. 1.7 DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING
  152.  
  153.     A.  Store products of this section in manufacturer's unopened
  154.         packaging until installation.
  155.  
  156.     B.  Maintain storage area conditions for products of this
  157.         section in accordance with manufacturer's instructions
  158.         until installation.

  160. 1.8 PROJECT/SITE CONDITIONS
  161.  
  162.     A.  Field Measurements:  When construction schedule permits,
  163.         take field measurements of areas to receive roof panel
  164.         system; indicate measurements on submitted shop drawings,
  165.         noting discrepancies.
  166.  
  167. 1.9 WARRANTY
  168. NOTE ** The following paragraph specifies a specimen
  169.         Special Warranty.  If retained, edit for project
  170.         requirements and coordinate with General Conditions
  171.         and Division 1; if combined warranty for
  172.         construction activities of other sections is
  173.         required, edit list in third paragraph and
  174.         coordinate with RELATED SECTIONS Article of this
  175.         section.
  176.  
  177.     A.  Special Warranty:
  178.         1.  The Contractor warrants construction activities of
  179.             this section, as installed, to be in accordance with
  180.             the Contract Documents and to be free from faults and
  181.             defects in materials and workmanship for a period of
  182.             three (3) years.
  183.         2.  Have warranty countersigned by representatives of
  184.             manufacturer and installer of this section.
  185. NOTE ** Delete the following two sub-paragraphs if combined
  186.         special warranty not required.
  187.         3.  Combine special warranty of this section with
  188.             construction activities, as installed, of the
  189.             following sections:
  190.             a.  Section 07210 - Roof Insulation.

  198.     B.  Manufacturer's Warranty:  Manufacturer's warranties
  199.         against defects in products as follows:
  200.         1.  Failure of roof panel due to rupture, structural
  201.             failure, or perforation due to exposure to normal
  202.             atmospheric corrosion:  20 years.
  203.         2.  Paint finish:  20 years against blistering, peeling,
  204.             cracking, flaking, checking, chipping, chalking, or
  205.             fading.

  229.             Corporation Vertical Seam Roof Panel.
  230.         2.  Material:  Galvalume(R) aluminum-zinc alloy-coated
  231.             steel sheet conforming to ASTM A 792/A 792M,
  232.             Structural Quality (SQ), Grade 50A (345A), Coating
  233.             Designation AZ55 (AZ 165).
  234. NOTE ** Retain one of the following three sub-paragraphs to
  235.         specify sheet thickness; do not specify 26 gage
  236.         panel if UL rated system is required.
  237.         3.  Gage:  22 gage (0.8 mm) minimum sheet thickness.
  238.         4.  Gage:  24 gage (0.6 mm) minimum sheet thickness.
  239.         5.  Gage:  26 gage (0.4 mm) minimum sheet thickness.
  240.         6.  Profile:  Factory-formed standing seam pan, with 1-
  241.             3/4 inch (44 mm) rib having integral male/female
  242.             interlocking side seams with continuous factory-
  243.             applied non-hardening sealant, for mechanical
  244.             crimping of seams at installation.
  245. NOTE ** Retain one of the following three sub-paragraphs to
  246.         specify panel width.
  247.         7.  Panel width:  18 inches (457 mm) coverage.
  248.         8.  Panel width:  16 inches (406 mm) coverage.

  255.             a.  Interior face:  Factory-applied corrosion-
  256.                 resistant primer.

  259.                 paint coating, color selected from manufacturer's

  273.             sheet metal items that are not manufacturer's

  278.             c.  Panel terminations.
  279.             d.  Perimeter and termination flashings.
  280.         2.  Material:  Galvalume(R) aluminum-zinc alloy-coated
  281.             steel sheet conforming to ASTM A 792/A 792M,
  282.             Commercial Quality (CQ), Coating Designation AZ55 (AZ
  283.             165).
  284.         3.  Metal thickness:  26 gage (0.4 mm).

  313.     H.  Fasteners:
  314.         1.  For panel clips:  Non-corroding fasteners of types
  315.             specified by roof panel system manufacturer for
  316.             indicated substrates and specified wind uplift
  317.             resistance requirements.
  318.         2.  For metal trim and roof penetration devices:  Non-
  319.             corroding die-cast head steel screws, aluminum-zinc
  320.             alloy-coated, with weathersealing washers.
  321.  
  322.     I.  Protective Primer:  Corrosion-inhibitive primer which
  323.         prevents electrolytic action between adjacent dissimilar
  324.         metals, type recommended by roof panel manufacturer.
  325.  
  326. 2.3 FABRICATION
  327.  
  328.     A.  Fabricate indicated site-formed metal items from factory-
  329.         finished metal sheet to roof panel manufacturer's
  330.         specifications for factory-formed trim in accordance with
  331.         shop drawings.
  332.  
  333. PART 3  EXECUTION
  334.  
  335. 3.1 EXAMINATION
  336.  
  337.     A.  Verification of Conditions:
  338.         1.  Substrate is ready to receive roof panel system.
  339.         2.  Roof penetrations are completed.
  340.  
  341.     B.  Installer's Examination:
  342.         1.  Have installer of this section examine conditions
  343.             under which construction activities of this section
  344.             are to be performed, then submit written notification
  345.             if such conditions are unacceptable.
  346.         2.  Transmit two copies of installer's report to
  347.             Architect within 24 hours of receipt.
  348.         3.  Beginning construction activities of this section
  349.             before unacceptable conditions have been corrected is
  350.             prohibited.
  351.         4.  Beginning construction activities of this section
  352.             indicates installer's acceptance of conditions.
  353.  
  354. 3.2 PREPARATION
  355.  
  356.     A.  Surface Preparation:  Apply two (2) coats protective
  357.         primer to surfaces of trim items that will be concealed
  358.         in finished Work.
  359.  
  360. 3.3 INSTALLATION
  361.  
  362.     A.  Install roof panel system components in accordance with
  363.         Architect-accepted shop drawings, manufacturer's
  364.         instructions, and as follows:
  365.         1.  Roof panels:  Install in correct alignment with
  366.             structural framing.
  367.         2.  Trim:  Install level; lap end joints minimum two (2)
  368.             inches (50 mm); apply joint sealant to concealed
  369.             joint surfaces.
  370.  
  371. 3.4 CLEANING
  372.  
  373.     A.  Remove strippable coating from panels, when provided, and
  374.         perform dry wipe-down cleaning of panels as installed.
  375.  
  376. 3.5 PROTECTION
  377.  
  378.     A.  Protect installed products from damage by subsequent
  379.         construction activities.
  380.  
  381.     B.  Replace products having damage other than minor finish
  382.         scratches.
  383.  
  384.     C.  Repair minor finish scratches in accordance with panel
  385.         manufacturer's recommendations; replace products which
  386.         cannot be repaired to Architect's acceptance.
