  466. 2.7 FLASHING FABRICATION

  479. 3.1 EXAMINATION

  493. 3.2 ROOF DECK PREPARATION

  501. 3.3 INSTALLATION - EAVE ICE DAM PROTECTION

  504.         fascia boards.  Weather lap joints 2 inches (50 mm).
  505.         Secure flange with nails spaced 8 inches (200 mm) on
  506.         center.

  508.     B.  Apply CertainTeed "WinterGuard" Waterproofing Shingle
  509.         Underlayment as eave protection in accordance with
  510.         manufacturer's instructions.
  511. NOTE ** Change dimension below to 48 inches or greater for

  514.     C.  Extend eave protection membrane minimum 24 inches (610
  515.         mm) up slope beyond interior face of exterior wall.

  517. 3.4 INSTALLATION - PROTECTIVE UNDERLAYMENT
  518. NOTE ** Delete 2 paragraphs below if all roof slopes are
  519.         greater than 4:12.  Otherwise, select either
  520.         complete WinterGuard underlayment or D 4869
  521.         underlayment in combination with eave ice dam
  522.         protection.  WinterGuard is an improved version of
  523.         standard underlayment, developed to resist standing
  524.         water held on a sloped roof at eaves and valleyus

  543.     C.  Roof Slope 4:12 or Greater:  Install one layer asphalt

  547.     D.  Weather lap and seal watertight with plastic cement items
  548.         projecting through or mounted on roof.  Do not allow

  551. 3.5 INSTALLATION - VALLEY PROTECTION

  553.     A.  For "closed-cut," "woven," and "open" valleys, first
  554.         place one ply of WinterGuard, minimum 36 inches (910 mm)
  555.         wide, centered over valleys.  Lap joints minimum 6 inches
  556.         (152 mm).  Follow instructions of shingle and
  557.         waterproofing membrane manufacturer.

  559. 3.6 INSTALLATION - METAL FLASHING

  561.     A.  Weather lap joints minimum 2 inches (50 mm).

  563.     B.  Seal work projecting through or mounted on roofing with
  564.         plastic cement and make weathertight.

  566. 3.7 INSTALLATION - ASPHALT SHINGLES

  568.     A.  Install shingles in accordance with manufacturer's
