  94. 2.2 MANUFACTURED UNITS
  95. NOTE ** The following four paragraphs specify drawer slides
  96.         for a full range of load capacities.

  98. NOTE ** The shape of the drawer affects its ability to
  99.         handle a specific load. Consider the drawer width,
  100.         depth and height in specifying the right slides. A
  101.         formula used by BIFMA uses these dimensions to
  102.         calculate expected load:
  103. NOTE ** Expected Load (loaded with paper) = Drawer Depth
  104.         (into cabinet) x Drawer Height x Drawer Width x
  105.         0.017 pounds per cubic inch (0.152 g/cu m)+ Empty
  106.         Drawer Weight (approximately 30 pounds (13 kg)).
  107. NOTE ** Please take the weight of the expected contents
  108.         into consideration when applying this formula to
  109.         your project.

  120.             drawer disconnect; silenced slide movement supported
  121.             by steel ball bearings.
  122.         3.  Capacity:  100 pounds (45 kg) per pair for 18-inch
  123.             (457 mm) slide length.

  193.         cabinet and door.  The Model 1332/1432 data sheet

  200. NOTE **        Weight:  Maximum 75 pounds (34 kg) per door.
  201. NOTE **        Height:  Maximum 72 inches (1828 mm); for
  202.         taller doors,

  204. NOTE **        Width:   Maximum 26 inches (660 mm).
  205. NOTE **        Thickness of door:
  206. NOTE **            Inset doors:    Maximum 1-1/4 inches (31
  207.         mm).
  208. NOTE **            Overlay doors:  Maximum  3/4 inches (19
  209.         mm).
  210. NOTE ** Door must fit inside cabinet opening; it cannot
  211.         overlay cabinet frame on top and bottom edges.
  212.         However, a 3/4 inch (19 mm) thick door can overlay
  213.         cabinet frame  11/16 inch (17 mm), maximum, on
  214.         hinge edge; a detail drawing is included in the
  215.         Accuride data sheet.

  217. NOTE ** A "pocket" can be used to provide a place to mount
  218.         internal shelves or provide further screening of
  219.         the slide; allow the thickness of the door plus
  220.         1-1/4 inches (31 mm) inside the pocket to allow for
  221.         free movement of the hardware and the door.  When
  222.         specifying a partition make sure access is provided
  223.         to make hinge adjustments.

  225.     F.  Retracting Door Slides:
  226.         1.  Acceptable product:  Accuride Flipper Door(R) Model
  227.             1432.
  228.         2.  Type:  Retracting hinge assembly for vertical cabinet
  229.             doors, with provision to prevent racking of door.
  230.         3.  Capacity:  75 pounds (34 kg).
  231.         4.  Slide extension:  For door widths indicated on
  232.             drawings.
  233. NOTE ** The following sub-paragraph specifies minimum hinge
  234.         requirements; for special project conditions,
  235.         consult manufacturer for recommendations for
  236.         compatible hinge model numbers and modify sub-
  237.         paragraph.
  238.         5.  Hinges:  Types recommended by manufacturer for
  239.             indicated door thicknesses, and as follows:
  240.             a.  For door height 36 inches (914 mm) and below,
  241.                 supply 2 hinges per door.
  242.             b.  For door height above 36 inches (914 mm), supply
  243.                 3 hinges per door, plus one additional hinge for
  244.                 each 12 inches (304 mm) of door height above 36
  245.                 inches (914 mm).
  246. NOTE ** Optional hinge carrier strip is always recommended;
  247.         it assists door stability in closed position, and
  248.         also allows for additional hinge mounting, as
  249.         required on tall doors.
  250.         6.  Hinge carrier strip:  Type recommended by
  251.             manufacturer for specified hinges.
  252.         7.  Finish:  Clear zinc.

  254.     G.  Supply mounting hardware specified in manufacturer's
  255.         instructions for cabinet hardware.

  258. PART 3  EXECUTION
  259.  
  260. 3.1 INSTALLATION
  261.  
  262.     A.  Install products specified in this section in accordance
  263.         with requirements of affected sections and manufacturer's
  264.         instructions.
  265. NOTE ** Retain one of the following two paragraphs.

  267. NOTE ** Accuride strongly recommends that cabinets be
  268.         finished prior to installation of cabinet hardware.
  269.         This prevents slide lubrication from getting on
  270.         unfinished wood and from finishing debris from
  271.         getting into operating components.  If job site
  272.         finishing is a must, require masking of all sliding
  273.         hardware to prevent sawdust, sealer, finish or
  274.         other debris from fouling operating components.
  275.         Finish or sealer should not be applied directly
  276.         onto drawer slides.
  277.  
  278.     B.  Do not install products specified in this section before
  279.         applied finishes on cabinets have dried; allowing foreign
  280.         substances to foul operating components is prohibited.
  281.  
  282.     C.  Mask or cover products specified in this section before
  283.         applying finishes on cabinets, removing coverings only
  284.         after finishes have dried; allowing foreign substances to
  285.         foul operating components is prohibited.

  287. 3.2 ADJUSTING
  288.  
  289.     A.  Adjust operating components of products of this section
  290.         in accordance with manufacturer's instructions; ensure
  291.         that products operate correctly.
