- FACTORY-APPLIED METAL COATING SYSTEM
- NOTE ** Elf Atochem North America, Inc., factory-applied
- metal coating system.
- NOTE **
- NOTE ** This section is based on the products of Elf
- Atochem North America, Inc., which is located at:
- NOTE ** 2000 Market Street
- NOTE ** Philadelphia, PA 19103-3222
- NOTE ** Tel: (800) KYNAR 500 (800-596-2750)
- NOTE ** Fax: (215) 419-7497
- NOTE **
- NOTE ** Elf Atochem North America, Inc., manufactures KYNAR
- 500(R) polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) as the major
- vehicle (base resin) for licensing to leading
- liquid coating formulators. Dispersion coatings
- based on a minimum of 70 percent by weight of KYNAR
- 500(R) resin are formulated by these licensees and
- subsequently factory-applied and oven-baked as
- final finishes for aluminum, galvanized steel, or
- aluminized steel. A list of licensees may be
- obtained from Elf Atochem North America, Inc.
-
- NOTE ** KYNAR 500(R) resin-based coatings are more stable
- and offer superior weathering performance. When
- compared to competitive coating systems (plastisol,
- urethane, silicone polyester, and acrylic), they
- change less in color, gloss, and chalk, and exhibit
- superior corrosion resistance, flexibility, stain
- resistance, and overall durability. KYNAR 500(R)
- resin-based finishes meet or exceed the physical
- test performance criteria of the American
- Architectural Manufacturers Association (AAMA
- Specification 605.2) for high-performance organic
- coatings on architectural extrusions and panels and
- the more demanding Architectural Spray Coaters ASCA
- '96 Specification for Superior Performance of
- Organic Coatings on Architectural Aluminum,
- Curtainwall, Extrusions, and Miscellaneous Aluminum
- Components.
