  4.        This file outlines the version, general notes, system 
  5.        requirements, known problems with workarounds, and 
  6.        known problems without workarounds.

  14.      GENERAL NOTES:

  16.        Macromedia's Shockwave for Director is a Director 4.0.4 
  17.        compatible Windows playback application.  This is the  
  18.        first shipping version and has been renamed from 1.0 to 
  19.        4.0 due to its support of Director 4.0.4 movies.

  21.        X-Objects should be installed in the following location:
  22.        Program Files\Netscape\Navigator\Program\plugins\Np32dsw
  23.     
  24.        The default Netscape installation directory is the following:
  25.        Program Files\Netscape\Navigator\Program

  27.        Custom Shockwave Installations should point to the directory
  28.        which contains the file "Netscape.exe".

  50.      KNOWN PROBLEMS WITH WORKAROUNDS:
  51.   
  52.        - Function varies when running in anything other than 
  53.          256 colors.
  54.          Workaround: Run in 256 color mode or 8 bit screen depth.
  55.        - General redraw/refresh problems.
  56.          Workaround: Select Reload from the buttonbar or View menu.
  57.        - A broken icon appears and the movie is not loaded.
  58.          Workaround: Select Reload from the buttonbar or View menu
  59.          and ensure the web server MIME-type is set to 
  60.          "application/x-director".  For further information, see:

  62.        - If the Disk Cache is set to 0 Kb, movies will not play.
  63.          Workaround: Increase Netscape's Disk Cache to 5000 Kb.

  66.      KNOWN PROBLEMS WITHOUT WORKAROUNDS:

  68.        - NetLingo commands.  PreloadNetThing may not work in 
  69.          conjunction with gotoNetMovie and gotoNetPage.  For best 
  70.          results, set the Cache Preference to "Verify Documents 
  71.          Once Per Session".  To set the Cache Preference, select 
  72.          Network Preferences from the Options menu.
  73.        - Tables.  Movies embedded in tables may crash.
  74.        - Windows NT.  The 16-bit Plug-In may work with 16-bit 
  75.          Netscape under Windows NT, however, it has not 
  76.          been certified nor will it be supported at this time.
  77.          The 32-bit Plug-In will not work with Windows NT.
